The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until December 31, 2018. There are good prospects for an extension. The place of work will be Nyamlel, South Sudan (SS). Taking the security situation into account, travel for work will be required.

The aim of the position is to manage and implement the project on the basis of specified directives in terms of content, schedule and budget. The project is carried out in accordance with Welthungerhilfe standards and the directives/provisions of the co-financer.

The Head of Project is responsible for the operative implementation of the project(s) and the appropriate use of funds. He/she is responsible for coordination, planning and implementation, correctly and duly reporting to Welthungerhilfe Country Office.

Your responsibilities

• Ensures that all project relevant support is in place (monitoring, logistics, finance administration, etc.)
• Rresponsible for project planning, implementation, monitoring and for the project's financial control.
• Reports to the Country Director/Area Manager/Program coordinator on the progress of the project(s)

• Recruiting and managing staff according to WHH policies
• Ensures implementation of WHH policies and their adaptation to local conditions
• Act as Security Focal point for WHH in the programme area, to ensure security of WHH staff, equipment and programme assets, according to WHH security plan.

• Represents WHH in relevant fora/clusters at State and National level and within the humanitarian community.
• Contributes to WHH Country development of policies and strategies.

• Responsible for project purchases, according to internal procurement/logistcs guidelines.
• Overseeing logistical procedures, including warehouse management, inventory control and distribution reports

Your profile

• A university degree in development cooperation/humanitarian aid or qualifications that are commensurate with this position
• 3-5 years of project and coordination experience in carrying out emergency aid and development project of international (aid) agencies - preferably in the region
• A high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
• Coordination and organisational skills - even under a high workload
• Advance knowledge Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent spoken and written English, German language skills are an asset
• Working experience in South Sudan an asset
