Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Burundi and the direct supervision of the Migration Management Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the implementation, monitoring and effective coordination of the counter-trafficking projects and activities. S/he will also support in maintaining contact with relevant government authorities and technical partners and will also contribute to developing and promoting IOM's Counter-Trafficking policy in Burundi.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. Serve as primary focal point for all counter trafficking programming and be responsible for the administration of all related activities in IOM Burundi.

2. Coordinate project staff as well as consultants recruited to support and/or undertake specific activities.

3. Encourage dialogue, information-sharing and cooperation among Government and non-governmental actors on IOM's priority areas for cooperation.

4. Assist in the provision of direct assistance to victims of trafficking and other exploited persons with a particular focus on ensuring, to the extent possible, the physical safety and protection of Page 1 / 4victims of trafficking and other exploited persons, including but not limited to adapting case management and risk assessment practices.

5. Assist in the design and delivery of training programming for government and civil society stakeholders, including law enforcement, immigration and government officials as well as civil society organizations, on preventing and combating trafficking in persons and irregular migration.

6. Identify and wherever possible cultivate operational synergies within and between IOM projects and other organizations and agencies.

7. Responsible for the maintenance of accurate and timely monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that all activities are properly tracked and recorded.

8. Supervise the work of local implementing partners and related community-based organizations; this necessarily involves grant supervision of local implementing partners. 9. Responsible for maintaining project documentation and information.

10. Ensure that confidentiality and the right to privacy is maintained with regard to confidential information.

11. In accordance with structured reporting requirements, draft regular project reports and donor reports according to donor requirements of all activities undertaken.

12. Coordinate the preparation of external correspondence, and managing internal correspondence.

13. Contribute to the design, development, and fundraising for new CT projects. 14. Participate in relevant stakeholder meetings in Burundi and give presentations and conduct training briefings as required.

15. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

• Master’s degree in Social Science, Law, Human Rights, International Affairs or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or • University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience. Experience

• Excellent knowledge of the thematic area, including the international legal framework and rights based approaches;

• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national/international institutions and NGOs;

• Good knowledge of project formulation, administration and evaluation techniques and practices;

• Good level of computer literacy, including database applications;

• Ability to supervise staff and coordinate administrative activities;

• Excellent written, communication and negotiation skills;

• Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results; capacity to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds; • Relevant experience with an International Governmental Organization a distinct advantage; Page 2 / 4• Working experience in the region is an asset.

Languages

Fluency in English and French is required.

Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.
