Purpose of the post:

The Talent Acquisition Unit, in the Talent Management Division, is in charge of sourcing, attracting and recruiting specialist and generalist staff to meet the ICRC's needs in line with the skills and profiles identified by the organization.


The Recruitment team puts its expertise at the service of the various divisions and sub-divisions of the organization, ensuring that recruitment takes place in accordance with the relevant guidelines, procedures and ethical rules.

The recruiter acts as a trusted partner and is expected to proactively develop and manage key stakeholder relationships within the operations and other métiers (functions). He / she ensures a best-in-class candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.

Through a mixture of onsite and virtual support, the recruiter is responsible for the delivery of the end to end Talent Acquisition service for a given population in line with the operational needs: proactively tracking human resources needs, designing appropriate assessment approaches, assessing candidates' applications, conducting interviews and making recruitment decisions in conjunction with the units concerned or with Operations.

Recruiters work within about a 15-20 person team and report directly to the Head of Recruitment Operations. Recruitment Operations sit within the Talent Acquisition & Sourcing Unit, with all colleagues sharing a stake in this ambitious and evolving service team. All colleagues are expected to participate or lead on development project work and take a pragmatic and creative approaches to the challenges we face. One of our team values is mutual support and it is expected that the recruiter helps, supports and occasionally replaces his / her colleagues when needed and appropriate.

Main responsibilities:

Operational delivery and stakeholder management:

  • Partner closely with Métiers to understand unique workforce needs, advise upon and develop appropriate acquisition approaches
  • Pilot, assess, adapt and make available various onsite and online assessment tools to specific recruitments
  • Seek to clearly define the role requirements and tailored talent assessment and selection strategy required
  • Analyse vacant positions, key competencies and job profiles needed in collaboration with the People Analytics unit, the Métiers and the adequate HR referents
  • Own metric reporting and quality analysis for their areas, contributing to effective forecasting and decision making for their areas of focus and for the Unit as a whole
  • Advertise job openings and collaborate with the HR Marketing team to diffuse the job advertisement
  • On some specific occasions, work in close collaboration with the HR Marketing team, supporting them to identify sourcing channels and targets but also to carry out careers outreach work  
  • Collaborate with our network of recruiters seated within national societies on generic and specific candidates searches
  • Establish, maintain and monitor excellent working relationships with every HR function and ensure Talent Acquisition is adding value
  • Identify and develop a talent pipeline aligned with mix of ICRC requirements in order to support operational needs with reactivity and quality
  • Adapt the recruitment process in case of emergency

Service excellence for a great candidate experience:

  • Evaluate candidates' files against the ICRC key and functional competencies and job requirements
  • Design and conduct appropriate, effective and unbiased assessment and selection approaches
  • Be the key contact for the candidates during the recruitment process and answer their questions in a timely manner
  • Give, or support others to do so, candidates constructive feedback regarding the outcome of their application to guarantee a great candidate experience but also ensure they can upskill and / or gain the experience missing to their application and be able to apply again in the future
  • Facilitate assessment center and other decision making to ensure process and ethical rules are applied & to give subject matter expertise in guiding standards of talent acquisition
  • Liaise with the TAQ administrators for the completion of various administrative tasks (employee’s files, organization of languages tests…)

Advisory service / Center of Expertise

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and deployment of the Talent Acquisition strategic aims
  • Assume the role of subject matter expert in regards to Talent Acquisition and proactively seek a partnering relationship with métiers to ensure recruiter is well positioned to advise and design necessary solutions in advance of requirements
  • Participate, and lead as assigned, on development work and project streams
  • Develop, advise and train upon processes, policies and SLAs internally within the TAQ unit and with stakeholders
  • Train stakeholders, and others as needed, on interview techniques, and oversee deliberations, allowing them to reach an objective decision with greater certainty and equality
  • Support our stakeholders when they need to use the recruitment module of the HRIS to spread best practices internally
  • Keep up to date on internal and external best practice TAQ approaches

Selection criterias:

  • University degree or equivalent in human resources or business administration
  • Minimum of 3 years’ in a recruitment role with an international exposure.
  • Minimum of 1 years of recruitment in house, a strong asset.
  • Previous experience in the humanitarian and / or voluntary sector a very strong asset
  • Excellent command of French and English
  • Computer literate and experience in the use and maintenance of an application tracking systems and databases, preferably Success Factors
  • At ease with the development and analysis of statistics and metrics
