The Digital Strategy Section within the Division of Communication comprises Web, Social Media and Digital Governance teams working together to create compelling public-facing content and to provide digital services within the organization. Through multiple platforms and in multiple languages, the Digital Strategy Section draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, as well as ensuring greater transparency and accountability. Web stories, blog posts, photo essays, Facebook posts, Twitter campaigns, and videos for distribution via UNICEF.org, UNICEF Connect, YouTube, news media and other outlets and platforms are all a part of our digital storytelling.

How can you make a difference?

  • Join our team to be part of a capacity building programme that supports global staff to advance their work in external digital communications and engagement.
  • Assess capacity building needs and support the development of training plans.
  • Provide applied experience in adult learning research and develop training materials for a variety of audiences in the digital communications field.
  • Work closely with training specialist to design and develop digital learning programs that would support the global needs for digital communications.
  • Provide inputs on performance indicators and monitor progress towards capacity building outcomes and impacts.
  • Manage “Digital Labs,” UNICEF’s community of practice for external digital communications, by ensuring timely sharing of resources and good practices between offices.
  • Curate “Digital Labs” internal Yammer group for digital communication practitioners.
  • Support the issuance and development of procedures, standards and guidelines.
  • Cover for the governance support desk as needed.
  • Support other work streams relevant to the implementation of digital governance.


To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in communications, management, digital media or other field related to this position. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional 2 years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Two years of relevant work experience in digital communications/information field.
  • A good understanding of technical aspects of on-line media and communications.
  • Experience providing support to users.
  • Experience with professionally managing/contributing to website and/or social media channels.
  • Experience with organizing workshops, webinars, and working sessions.
  • Experience with conceptualizing and designing e-courses for online learning.
  • Fluency in English is required, additional knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks:

This position is classified as “rotational,” which means the incumbent is expected to rotate to another duty station upon completion of their tour of duty.
