REQUIRED SERVICES

FHI 360 is seeking a Nutrition Consultant to support with program design and proposal development for a humanitarian intervention in Yemen. The consultant will participate in a 6-8-week trip to Southern Yemen where they will conduct preliminary assessments to design a nutrition program to address the needs of conflict affected individuals in Yemen. As part of the assessment the individual will be expected to meet with UN Cluster leads, Government of Yemen Officials, other NGO nutrition partners, conduct a desk review of the current nutrition situation, and conduct any necessary on the ground assessments – security permitting - to produce evidence based programming. The consultant will be expected to contribute to both the proposal narrative and budget. The nutrition design will be part of an integrated program design including health and WASH. Integration between these components will be essential. It is anticipated that the nutrition design will include severe and acute malnutrition (SAM), community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), and infant and young child feeding (IYCF).

Deliverables:

The following deliverables will be expected as the culmination of the 6-8-week consultancy:

  1. Final Report on Nutrition situation in Yemen

  2. Nutrition section for proposal including technical narrative, budget, and implementation plan for nutrition programming

DESIRED CANDIDATE/FIRM PROFILE

The ideal Contractor will possess the following skills:

  1. Advanced university degree in Nutrition, Public Health or related technical field.

  2. At least 3 years of professional experience in the field of emergency nutrition.

  3. Knowledge on the latest Nutrition in Emergency and experience in integrated response implementation desired.

  4. Hands-on experience in emergency response implementation desired

  5. Strong analytical and communication skills.

  6. Aware of the latest developments in nutrition and assessment methodologies.

  7. Experience in Community Management of Acute Malnutrition and Infant and Young Child Feeding desired.

  8. Knowledge of Yemen context and operating environment.

  9. Fluency in English, with excellent writing skills.

  4. FHI 360 may choose to award subcontracts to more than one offeror for specific parts of the activities in the solicitation.

  5. FHI 360 may request from short‐listed offerors a second or third round of either oral presentation or written response to a more specific and detailed scope of work that is based on a general scope of work in the original solicitation.

  6. FHI 360 has the right to rescind a solicitation, or rescind an award prior to the signing of a contract due to any unforeseen changes in the direction of FHI 360’s client, be it funding or programmatic.

  7. FHI 360 reserves the right to waive any deviations by offerors from the requirements of this solicitation that in FHI 360's opinion are considered not to be material defects requiring rejection or disqualification; or where such a waiver will promote increased competition.

  8. Data produced under this solicitation belongs to FHI 360. Any distribution of data must first have written authorization from FHI 360 or its designated representative. ;
