Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Sub-office in Mae Sot, Thailand, for administrative matters and direct supervision of the Deputy CMO, in Mae Sot and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in Bangkok, Thailand, the incumbent will be responsible for medical examination and treatment of the refugees and migrants under Resettlement Migrant Health Assessment Programmes. Core Functions / Responsibilities:

• Conduct health assessments of the refugees and migrants, including proper identification, review of the medical history, physical examination, re-reading of Chest X-rays (CXR) and review of laboratory test results, in accordance with the technical guidelines of the resettlement countries.

• Provide vaccinations according to the technical instructions of resettlement countries. • Perform treatment of tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, parasites and provide support to the HIV, TB and other counselling activities.

• Record all relevant health data in standard forms, MiMOSA, eMedical and other relevant databases. Ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the recorded information. • Make referrals for additional testing and treatment, if necessary; follow up patients on treatment. Liaise with the laboratories, radiologists, other external service providers, health providers in the camps, government and UN bodies regarding health issues of refugees and Page 1 / 3migrants, strictly adhering to the principles of confidentiality. • Support the CMO and Deputy CMO in the management of the various aspects of the health

assessment programmes: organization of workflow, supervision of the junior staff, medical procurement, quality assurance and quality control.

• Participate in public health activities and health education activities. • Participate in public health collaborative projects with CDC and other entities, as required. • Participate in development of SOPs and other written internal documents. • In coordination with the CMO, liaise with in the health authorities in the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DIAC, CIC and health authorities or IOM missions in other resettlement countries. If requested, represent MHD in the internal and external meetings. • Participate in data analysis related to the health assessment program for presentation and program planning.

• Perform such other duties as may be assigned by COM or CMO.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

• University degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution with at least 4 years of professional experience; or

• University degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution plus Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Tuberculosis-related disciplines or other related fields from an accredited academic institution with 2 years of relevant professional experience. Experience

• At least 3 years of clinical experience, preferably with specialization in internal medicine or infectious diseases.

• High level of integrity, understanding of ethical principles, respect for diversity, ability to work with refugees and migrants from different cultural backgrounds.

• Proven ability to write clearly and concisely.

• Thorough knowledge of clinical medicine.

• Knowledge of tuberculosis management and experience in interpretation of chest X-ray images.

• Knowledge of migration health assessment programmes

Languages

• Fluency in English is required.
