Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Accountability, Communication, Reporting Intern

 

About the job

 In Mali, DRC intervenes in the North and Central regions (Gao, Timbuktu, Mopti) and implements food security and protection activities for displaced persons and host communities. The Danish Demining Group (DDG), DRC’s technical unit that specializes in humanitarian demining, mine risk education and armed violence reduction, implements conflicts resolution and prevention activities in the border area of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.  In order to ensure the implementation of its programs, DRC has a coordination office in Bamako, as well as 3 field offices in Gao, Mopti and Timbuktu.

 

In compliance with DRC international programme strategy and the Regional guidelines, Mali Country Office (CO) places special emphasis on the inclusion of quality and accountability in its operations. In July 2017, DRC was certified as compliant with the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) for a four-year period.

 

The Accountability, communication and reporting intern will support his/her direct line manager with the implementation of the CHS/Code of Conduct strategy, the production of high quality communication tools and documents and the production of high quality reports. The main tasks will focus on the development and the implementation of an accountability strategy, in order to ensure and promote compliance with the national and regional strategy. In particular, the Intern will contribute to the training of DRC staff on the internal and external complaints reporting mechanisms. The intern will liaise closely with the Programme Development and Quality (PDQ) department, the Technical Coordinators and the M&E Coordinator.

 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

 

  1. Contribute to the development and the implementation of the CHS/CoC strategy
  2. Disseminate the CHS and DRC Code of Conduct and ensure they are effectively upheld
  3. Participate to the elaboration of high quality communication tools
  4. Contribute to high quality reporting

 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to demonstrate strong team-spirit, excellent command of both French and English and necessary capacity to adapt to new and multicultural environment. Moreover, we also expect the following:

 

Required

  • University degree in Economics, Administration, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Law or other relevant fields;
  • Proficient with standard software tools (Microsoft Word, Excel and Power-Point);
  • Excellent command of oral and written English and French;
  • Ability to work in a team, independently and under minimal supervision;
  • Excellent communication, analysis and written skills.

 

Desirable

  1. Previous experience with an international NGO/in West Africa;
  2. Ability to work in complex environments and under pressure;
  3. Methodical, autonomous and rigorous.
