ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING

The Organizational Support Services are responsible for establishing and implementing policies, systems and procedures which facilitate smooth and efficient implementation of KAICIID strategy.  The Services ensure that the Centre has the necessary managerial, logistical and administrative support, with the required financial, human and material resources to implement its activities and programmes. 

 

ROLE

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the IT Officer, the Network Administrator provides network support services through the Helpdesk, including active management of the network and daily technical support to users of KAICIID systems and technology infrastructure, promoting a client and service oriented approach.

FUNCTIONS 

  • Install and maintain Server/Network equipment, operating systems, LAN switches, cabling system and patch panels.
  • Assist to plan and implement new IT initiatives or migration projects, including rollout of new installations, upgrades of hardware, software, or operating systems.
  • Actively monitor the IT infrastructure and services using Network Monitoring system; assist in improving the monitoring capability in order to pro-actively troubleshoot system anomalies.
  • Perform server troubleshooting in conjunction with or as escalated by the Helpdesk Assistant.
  • Maintain a centralized regular back-up for servers and clients, monitor backup jobs and manage tape backup sets and rotation.
  • Analyze and diagnose the issues, identify the root cause of the problem and propose a solution.
  • Answer user queries and issues that have been escalated in the online tracking system, solving IT helpdesk tickets and coordinating with the IT Officer as necessary to satisfy user requests within existing KAICIID IT standards and procedures.
  • Log all actions and document cases in the online tracking system, including steps taken to resolve the problem or to complete the task, problems encountered, current status, required follow-up or escalation, etc.
  • Keeps the users informed of their calls' status as appropriate.
  • Provide support for Conference room and Video Conference setup.
  • Identify continuing user support needs and recommend focused in-house training as needed.
  • Participate in delivery of user training both as a technical support person in general and as a trainer for appropriate IT courses related to KAICIID standard software when applicable.
  • Assist the IT Officer in ensuring application/compliances of IT policies and guidelines, established processes and procedures by all staff.
  • Assist in preparing system administration document and network diagrams.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware.
  • Maintain library of IT related reference materials.  Replaces IT Officer during his/her absence.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or relevant field with specialized formal training on IT systems, business software (Microsoft Office) and web-based applications. A valid Microsoft Certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant working experience in network setup and administration, installing, configuring and supporting LAN hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network switches, printers, antivirus, routers and other devices.
  • Proven knowledge, experience and skills to maintain, support and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Servers, AD, DHCP & DNS and Windows Exchange setup and administration.
  • Experience and skills to support and troubleshoot desktop, laptop and network equipment to include Microsoft Office applications, JIRA, CRM, SharePoint, Networking, and Windows operating system.
  • Knowledge of mobile devices such as Apple iPad, iPhone and Apple OS and Mobile Device Management products desirable.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and PRINCE2 or PMP desirable.
  • Knowledge of an issue tracking system is an advantage.
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language to non-technical staff and end users.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a multi-cultural, multi-religious environment desirable.
  • Commitment to highest ethical standards and human rights.

 

LANGUAGES

English proficiency, knowledge of German highly desirable. 

 

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

KAICIID will initially offer a 6 months short-term contract with a possibility of extension, depending on the continuing need for the position. Annual net salary for Grade 7 Step 1 is 35736 EUR. Appointments are normally made at Step 1. KAICIID salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria.
