Introduction

Research Data Support Manager in the Research and Computing Sector (RCS), Scientific Information Service Group (SIS), Open Access Section (OA).

You would join a vibrant workplace at CERN, within our SIS Group. We are developing, operating, and enhancing services like CERN Open Data and CERN Analysis Preservation. This position is part of the core team of the FREYA project. Funded by the European Commission under the H2020 programme, in partnership with leading institutions in the field, FREYA fosters adoption of persistent identifiers across research communities, and the way they can build Open Science services.

Functions

As a Research Data Support Manager you will take a leading role at CERN's contribution to FREYA, developing services that power open science with persistent identifiers (DOI, ORCID) and connects persons, scientific artefacts, places.

Within the High-Energy Physics community, you will support adoption of these identifiers, and help establishing long term best practices. You will be directly involved in the cutting-edge activities of curation, preservation and management of LHC research data within the SIS Group at CERN. You will share your experience with the FREYA partners and the research community writing reports, publications and giving presentations in appropriate fora.

As a Research Data Support Manager, you will:

  • Design and operationalise curation workflows for research data, and other ancillary materials to publications, for the High-Energy Physics community at the LHC and beyond.
  • Research and report on best practices in research data management, use of persistent identifiers, and data publishing.
  • Link the research community and external best practices: act as a bi-directional link between the research data management challenges of the High-Energy Physics community and the wider work of the FREYA consortium.
  • Coordinate the process of requirement gathering and distilling technical specification within the FREYA project and research data curation in the SIS.
  • Represent CERN for specific activities within the FREYA consortium and at related international events.
