The Safety & Security Coordinator (SSC) works under the direct supervision and line management of the Country Security Advisor (CSA) and Area Manager - South (AM)location will be in Aden with frequent travel to Taiz, Abyan, Dhalea and Lahj.

Job description

  • Quality assurance and implementation of security system and contingency plan.
  • Advise on all security related matters.
  • Produce short and long term assessments and projections related to contextual developments, relevant dynamics and actor mapping.
  • Advise the AM/APM and other relevant staff about Security developments
  • Collect and exchange information with all relevant bodies (UN, NGOs, authorities etc.)
  • Liaise on security issues with relevant external actors
  • Develop and review communication procedures and protocols.
  • Develop and supervise briefings, seminars and training for staff.
  • Develop and update Security and Safety related Standard Operating Procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in liaising with civilian and military government authorities as well as with regional, national and international institutions.
  • Significant political and cultural awareness and experience of working in settings where insecurity is a major issue.
  • Analytical skills and experience, able to provide timely reports.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
  • Significant understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts.
  • Awareness of gender and culture issues.
  • Proven communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English language with writing ability.
  • Above average computer literacy.
  • Holder of a valid driver’s licence (optional).
  • Knowledge of the political situation in Yemen and Horn of Africa.
