What we do

 The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law.  We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations. 

Role description

The Regional Manager is responsible for the implementation of the MOVEABILITY program in his/her region, management of the good implementation of technical activities as described in the annual planning, follow up with the development of partnerships as well as all activities relating to communication, reporting and fund raising http://moveability.icrc.org/

Main responsibilities

  • Together with the team, defines objectives, plans of action and, based on set indicators, monitors progress on achievements
  • Sets and administers financial and human resources related to the program according to administration and financial procedures
  • Follows-up on logistic processes in coordination with the Head of Operation and the ICRC
  • Contributes to fundraising activities in cooperation with Geneva HQ
  • Together with the relevant stakeholders, identifies the needs and plans theoretical and on the job training for ortho-prosthetic, physiotherapy and center management activities
  • When required, provides additional technical support (P&O, PT, Public Health, Management, etc.) at physical rehabilitation centers, schools and ministries level
  • Ensures the quality of the services provided by using the beneficiary satisfaction interviews as well as other tools
  • Coordinates Physical Rehabilitation (PR) country assessments in close collaboration with MOVEABILITY Geneva
  • Together with local partners, drafts new cooperation agreements and related plans of action and follows-up on their implementation
  • Lobbies all relevant national stakeholders for the creation/investment for an entity dedicated to physical rehabilitation service provision and for a National Platform for the sector of physical rehabilitation,
  • Maintains a continuous dialogue with the other international stakeholders operating in the region with the ambition of developing and reinforcing MOVEABILITY partnerships
  • Based on country operational metrics, reports activities and provides statistics in a timely fashion. Also ensures proper information management and protection.
  • Produces promotional material for and maintains the MOVEABILITY website
  • Participates to all relevant internal and external meetings/conferences to represent and promote the MOVEABILITY program from the region
  • Develops and maintains networks of various states and non-state actors who are relevant for the development and implementation of the MOVEABILITY program.

Desired profile and skills

  • Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
  • Degree or diploma in Business and Administration, Project Management or International development
  • MSc in a/m profession, certificate in management training, Public Health or development are added values
  • Experience in managing key partnerships in the field  
  • Strong experience in people management
  • Previous international humanitarian and/or development experience in low income countries (NGO’s, IO or charity organization)
  • Able to work under pressure and lead a multicultural team in complex environments
  • Very good English and French verbal and written communication skills
  • Good command of computer tools

Your asset

  • An additional language of ICRC interest such as Arabic, Spanish or Russian, with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and gender diversity
  • Previous experience(s) within the Red Cross & Red Crescent movement

Our operational and field constraints

  • In line with the principle of neutrality, the ICRC does not assign personnel to a country of which they are nationals
  • Candidates must be in good health and will have to do a medical check-up prior to departure in the field
  • Candidates must possess a driving license (for manual transmission vehicles)
