POSITION DESCRIPTION 
 
Title:   DDG program project officer   
Location:  Aden and Lahj with frequent South Governorates with travel to Aden and Lahj districts 
Start of Contract & Duration: 15th April 2018 to 31 Dec 2018, renewal subject to performance and fund availability.
 
BACKGROUND 
 
DRC began working in Yemen in 2008 in response to the mixed migration flows from the Horn of Africa. Since then it expanded its sectors of intervention, and is now providing humanitarian assistance in eight governorates throughout the country. DDG Yemen was established in January 2012 as a response to the fighting and displacement in the country. DDG initially focused its Mine Risk Education (MRE) activities on Internally Displaced People (IDP), with special emphasis on children.
 
PURPOSE
 
The overall role of project officer is planning, assessment, survey, mapping and monitoring evaluation of projects progress in all stages, the project officer is conducting survey assessments and collecting updated and reliable information about hazardous areas, particularly focusing on areas where DDG working and has plan for future deployment. Communication and assessing YEMAC in terms of Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and mapping. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
• Conduct area assessment with cooperation of MRE coordinator in terms of mine/ERW hazards within targeted governorate and districts by the providing below information: 
A. Setting priorities for individual districts/communities in accordance with criteria and guidelines 
B. Timeline for individual location/tasks. 
C. Mapping and documentation of each area  
D. Social-Economic impact in terms of Mine/ERW presence. 
E. Recodes number of mine/ERW victims in the duration of assessment in targeted area. 
F. Recommend methods of MRE and practices to enhance efficient productivity in each specific areas. 
• Design and provide comprehensive maps that to be marked DDG (Plan, on-going and covered MRE and survey area) by districts/governorate and region.  
• Lead to conduct baseline study and Impact Monitoring (IM) by MRE teams based on the plan and prepare IM assessment report. 
• Coordinate and liaise with the locale authority when DDG operation area changing.  
• Regularly visit and conduct QA/QC of MRE and NTS team in an operational site. 
• Be aware of the security alerts and evacuation routes in case of security collapse in the area of operations, stablish an evacuation plan for the team. 
• Be responsible of overall technical/operational management in the project level. 
• Monitor quality and quantity of survey/MRE work in the field and make sure all activities are according to the plan and DDG SOP.  
• Establish and maintain good relation with YEMAC and local authorities 
• Maintain a good discipline within the teams and staff. 
• Control the working condition of equipment of survey/MRE for any damages and see to replacements if necessary.  
• Assist MRE coordinator in terms of each proposal and report writing and undertake any other tasks directed by them.
 
QUALIFICATION  & EXPERIENCE
 
• 2 years’ experience in the mine action program (MRE and Survey). 
• one years’ experience in the field of assessment and planning. 
• Should have background in Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and community survey assessments.  
• Must to have strong knowledge in using of computer (office programs), internet and GPS system.   
• knowledge in GIS and mapping system 
• University degree in Social Science, Education or relevant. 
• Arabic –fluency   
• Fluency level English skills – speaking, reading and writing
