How can you make a difference? 

You will be joining a team of around 5,000 staff in the West Bank Field Office working to foster the human development of some 800,000 registered Palestine refugees.••

The incumbent works under the overall supervision of Chief, Field Education Programme (CFEP). S/he provides strategic direction, leadership and management on all technical, managerial and programmatic matters related to the Field Education Programme.

The main responsibilities include:

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the• incumbent:

•         Advises and assists the Chief, Field Education Programme in the planning, management, monitoring and evaluation of all technical matters related to the implementation of Education Programme.

•         Supervises the programmatic aspects of Education Programme in the Field Office providing technical guidance to Area Education Officers, Heads of strategic education units (as applicable) and ensuring coordination of personnel in line with UNRWA policies, rules and regulations;

•         Supports the supervisor in monitoring and reporting of Field Education Programme activities related to technical issues;

•         Supervises and/or participates in the recruitment of technical staff and performance appraisal within the Education Programme in the Field Office and evaluates the efficiency of staff performance;

•         Supports supervisor• in overseeing the implementation of Education Programme including supervision of the technical support unit, and/or Education Development Center (where applicable);

•         Contributes to the preparation of the biennium budget of the Field Education Programme;

•         Contributes in liaising with government, local authorities and UN/NGOs to ensure their cooperation's and support in the operation of the Education Programme;

Conditions of service•

Monthly basic salary JD1314.1 plus 50% of the basic salary as Special Occupational Allowance (SOA), plus an allowance of 1000 NIS payable in JD at UNRWA rate.

Other benefits include:

Provident Fund contribution (7.5 % of basic salary staff member contribution, 15% of basic salary paid by the Agency)

Dependency allowances (if applicable)

30 days of annual leave

Compulsory medical insurance

Additional information

The incumbent is required to travel frequently to the Field's schools in different areas, therefore, the incumbent should have a valid driving license.

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education

Advanced university degree in Education Management or subjects taught at UNRWA/VTCs.

Work

experience

Eight years experience in education support services function at a senior level of which at least four years' should have been in a supervisory position.

Language(s)

Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

•         Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of research in various practices related to educational management.

•         Ability to take initiative.

•         Ability to work under pressure and meat multiple deadline.

•         Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

•         Ability to conduct training.

•         Ability to present information and data in a clear and instructive manner.

•         Proficiency in standard Agency computer applications.

•         Demonstrated organizational, supervisory and interpersonal skills.

•         Sound judgment on importance/priority/confidentiality of issues.

Desirable qualifications:

PHD degree in education leadership and management or teaching methodologies.
