UNICEF Lebanon Country Office is seeking a qualified education intern to support UNICEF Lebanon Education Section in the data collection and data archive as part of strengthening and maintaining the data systems of the Section.

As part of its mission, the Education Section of UNICEF Lebanon Country Office interacts and produces periodic documentation and reports to Donors, the MEHE, Regional offices and the Sector. As such, and due to the large intervention of UNICEF with all parties, the intern will support the Information Management Officer of the Education Section in the collection, the archive and visualization of all the data handled by the Section.

The objective of the internship is to support UNICEF Lebanon Education Section in the data collection and data archive as part of strengthening and maintaining the data systems of the Section. ª

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision and guidance of the Information Management Officer, the intern will support with the below tasks:

  • Support the IM officer in gathering and collating all education-related datasets from corporate documents, Lebanon education sector and the MEHE.
  • Assist in the compilation of education results, data, and data reports.
  • Support in Producing charts, datasheets and visuals based on the Education information archive.
  • Support the IM officer in statistical exercises.
  • Support in the review of the CERD publications, extract relevant data and trends and produce a comprehensive archive of the extracted data.
  • Support in knowledge management products: produce summaries of all major projects undertaken by the Section’s programme officers.

Deliverables and Schedules:

The deliverables are but not limited to the following:

  • Visuals and graphs
  • Archive of visuals, graphs, maps, available
  • Archive of all available corporate documents
  • Datasheets summarizing CERD publications and data
  • Education database folder

Responsibilities:

The intern is expected to work at UNICEF Beirut office and remotely, if necessary.

No travel is anticipated as part of this assignment but in-country travel opportunities may arise.

Timing:

The duration of the assignment is 6 months on a part- or full-time basis.

The successful candidate can arrange their working days flexibly, depending on the work plan they jointly prepare with the section team.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Enrolled in a university degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Education, Engineering, Architecture, Communications or related field.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and computer skills (MS applications especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Strong command of verbal and written English. Knowledge of written Arabic and/or French is considered an asset.
  • A high level of organizational skills.
  • Ability to present information in understandable tables, charts and graphs.
  • Excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • A high level of individual responsibility, commitment and initiative.

Administrative issues:

Office-based.

It is a part time assignment based on deliverables. Each monthly payment is subject to the receipt of:

  • The intern will provide her/himself with a laptop and a mobile phone. UNICEF will provide a temporary desk and access to Internet and printing facilities at the UNICEF offices.
  • Interns are not entitled to payment of overtime. All remuneration must be within the contract agreement.
  • The intern is expected to arrange for the visa requirements, if and when required.
    UNICEF Lebanon may assist with the visa procedures, however all visa costs must be borne by the intern.
  • The selected intern may not commence work or travel until the relevant agreement has been duly approved, signed by both parties and returned to the HR section, together with the required documents and certifications.
