CAMRIS seeks an Epidemiologist for an upcoming task order under the International Technical, Operation, and Professional Support Services (ITOPSS) IDIQ. The Epidemiologist will provide a broad range of epidemiology activities including: Point of contact for the HIV population-based survey, HIV surveillance studies targeting pregnant women at ANC sites, monitoring implementation of national program evaluations, provide feedback on HIV modeling activities, travel to conduct study trainings, implementation and monitoring and participate in national and international meetings.

Note: The position is contingent on contract award.

  • Serve as the Principal Point of Contact (POC) for HIV Population-based survey: Directly involved in partner coordination and communication; data management, analysis, and information dissemination. In addition, the POC will support planning, training and the implementation of HIV surveillance studies targeting pregnant women at ANC sites. For all these activities the POC will have to complete the below tasks:
  • Draft and circulate weekly study update communications with local and international partners and investigators.
  • Provide monthly progress reports.
  • Coordinate monthly data and dissemination meetings, including production of meeting minutes.
  • Conduct data analyses as needed to support Malawi and PEPFAR program planning needs.
  • Serve as report and manuscript coordinator.
  • Support development of protocols to conduct additional testing of stored specimens.
  • Monitoring: Provide support in monitoring implementation of national program evaluations.
  • Conduct study monitoring site visits as needed.
  • Conduct data analyses as needed to support Malawi and PEPFAR program planning needs.
  • HIV Modeling activities - critically review inputs and results of HIV modeling activities using geospatial, survey and program data.
  • Critical reviews of data inputs and outcomes and shares this information regularly with others involved in HIV Modeling activities.
  • Participate in national and international meetings and workshops as required.
  • Presents to in country team and consolidates comments.
  • Develops reports and presentations on modeling results.
  • Develop work plans.

  • Master's degree in public health sciences or a related field.

  • Minimum four years' experience, with progressive responsibility in working with epidemiology and laboratory information systems and providing data management solutions.

  • Knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS epidemiology and surveillance and HIV population-based surveys.

  • Detailed knowledge of the host government health care system and structures including familiarity with Ministry of Health (MoH) policies, program priorities and regulations is required.

  • Detailed working knowledge of USG HIV/AIDS public health programs, strategies, methods, processes and techniques used to plan, develop,implement and evaluate results of surveillance and epidemiologic projects and programs is required.

  • Three years' experience in coordinating multiple surveillance activities in public health settings at regional, national and district levels.

  • Experience in International public health, disease surveillance (active and passive), and Outbreak and case investigations.

  • High proficiency in using SAS, Stata, Excel, and Microsoft Access.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills. Experience in development of strategic documents, briefing documents, and reports.

  • Minimum of three years' experience working in Malawi.

  • Level IV speaking and writing proficiency in English.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English with various groups (Speaking, Reading and Writing)
