NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of an efficient and effective logistics systems and services for Gambella refugee operations. The main purpose of this position is to support and ease program implementation and beneficiary assistance.

In order to achieve the main objective, he/she will implement and ensure that NRC standard policies and best practice is adhered to. The role will provide leadership, technical support and capacity building to the area logistics and admin staff.

Job description

Line management of logistics staff
Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and handbooks and donor/auditor requirements
Provide input on operational support to Area Plan of Action, and to coordinate and align operational support with programmes plans at area level
Responsible for ensuring quality support to project implementation.
Facilitate area support budget, area level budgets, including support cost
Responsible for implementation of new country specific technical SOPs, guidelines and tools
Responsible for technical capacity building of supervised staff
Line manage and supervise the Logistics staff, incentive and casual workers, as well as contractors dedicated to logistic works,
Ensuring that work is planned and organized, that staff are given appropriate workloads and are clear about what is expected of them (e.g. by writing job descriptions, setting performance objective and goals, holding task planning meetings etc)
Develop and implement a training and capacity building plan for supervised staff
Regularly visit field locations and provide logistics and admin staff with onsite support
Carry out induction for new staff
Raise awareness on NRC policies and procedures to relevant staff, Code of Conduct, Anti-corruption etc

Qualifications

At least a BA Degree in Logistics and Procurement Management/Business Administration or equivalent
At least five years’ experience as a Logistics and Admin. officer with an INGO in a humanitarian/recovery context. Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Computer skills (Common Microsoft Windows and Office applications);
Report writing skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Ability to organize and prioritize work;
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
