The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is looking for a highly competent project manager with exceptional capacity to manage a four-year, multi-partner project funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) that aims to better equip key stakeholders in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for the implementation of safe and sustainable wastewater reuse models. The project will address the challenges that currently limit the upscaling and expansion of safe wastewater reuse across the MENA region. To achieve this, the project will create and support national and regional Learning Alliances in three countries (Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon).

Under the primary supervision of the Research Group Leader - Water, Health and Nutrition, the project manager will run the project on a day-to-day basis from a managerial and administrative standpoint. In particular, the project manager will be responsible for the management of project personnel; project administration, finance and procurement; project reporting; contributing to regional office administration; and engagement with partners, government officials and other uptake partners.

This is a regionally recruited position with a competitive salary and benefits package. The duration of the contract will initially be for a three-year period with possible extension. Egyptian nationals/passport holders are particularly encouraged to apply.
We are looking for candidates with an MSc (or equivalent) related to one of the fields of environmental or social sciences, or other disciplines relevant to wastewater treatment and reuse. Candidates need to have at least 8 years of work experience, which includes at least 4 years of demonstrated experience in project management and management of partners’ consortia in the MENA region. Candidates should also have a good command of spoken and written English and Arabic; the ability to effectively establish priorities, and plan, organize, implement and monitor work activities with limited supervision; strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and other stakeholders in a multicultural setting; sensitivity and respect for diversity; and, preferably, previous experience in wastewater management.

For a detailed job description and to apply for the position, visit www.iwmi.org/jobs. Your application must include a copy of your curriculum vitae, cover letter which addresses IWMI’s requirements stated above, and contact information of three professional referees who may be contacted if you are short-listed for the position.
