The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Financial Control Directorate - Financial Reporting and Accounting Department - Third Party Accounting and Administrative Expenses Division

at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2018)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

You will support the Administrative Expenses Unit within the Financial Control Department, assisting colleagues with various financial control processes and procedures within the Unit. The Unit is made up of 4 teams alongside whom the intern will work and gain experience:

  • Accounts Payable (AP) team
  • Travel Expenses team
  • General Ledger (GL) team
  • External offices and VAT team

The objective of your internship is both to provide the Unit with assistance to ease their workload in various processes and to provide a young professional with an interesting work experience in the area of financial control, in particular administrative expenses (Accounts Payable, VAT recovery, reimbursements of travel expenses, general accounting functions).

You will report to the Head of Unit and to the team leaders in each team.

Responsibilities

Your main duties include the following:

  • Working within the AP team responsible for the payments of invoices;
  • Assisting the VAT team with regards to VAT recovery;
  • Assisting with the reconciliation of suspense accounts;
  • Contributing to the monitoring, follow-up and reporting of activities;
  • Participating in the analytical reporting;
  • Participating in the study, testing and implementation of accruals accounting;
  • Assisting with developing specific procedures to handle all the exceptional cases.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or Bachelor degree in Finance / Accounting or related discipline;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good knowledge of French would be an advantage;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft application tools (Word, Excel, PPP).
