The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Inspectorate General - Operations Evaluation Division

at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

INTERN

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2018)

(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship

The main objective of your internship is to support the Evaluation Division of the EIB (EV) in carrying out desk-research and other evaluative activities (as needed) in the framework of EV’s on-going evaluations and related studies undertaken in 2018.

Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the relevant Complaints Officer, you will:

  • Prepare policy reviews on the theme(s) targeted by one or more of EV’s ongoing evaluations or studies;
  • Contribute to others components of a thematic evaluation or study (e.g. portfolio review, data collection via surveys or interviews, data analysis);
  • Contribute to carry out the individual evaluation of EIB’s operations;
  • Support the logistics of evaluation processes (organisation of interaction with stakeholders, of data collection and analysis);
  • Support EV’s outreach activities (knowledge sharing and gathering, both within and outside the EIB).

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final years of studies or University degree (Bachelor/Master), preferably with studies oriented towards Economics, Finance, Engineering, Social Sciences or Political Sciences. Specialised Evaluation courses would be an advantage;
  • Experience using quantitative methods would be an advantage;
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software (Windows, MS Office, Web Browsers, Adobe);
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage;
  • Additional research software’s knowledge;
  • Some knowledge regarding environmental and social impacts;
  • Some knowledge regarding international organisations;
  • Some knowledge of policy evaluation and/or impact assessment would be an advantage.
