JOB PURPOSE

To handle receipt/dispatch and verification of commodities in order to maximise quality of warehouse operations and mitigate losses, and to support the best storage management practices in compliance with WFP warehouse standards and established guidelines

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Under the overall supervision of a Hub Manager and/or his/her designated, the Store Keeper will undertake the following duties

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Receive all the WFP food commodities;
  • Report on the quality, quantity of the received commodities and ensure that quantities dispatched as per consignor’s documents match with quantities received and endorse documents;
  • Maintain clean and pest-free storing conditions;
  • Ensure good warehousing practices;
  • Supervise the offloading and stacking of the commodities, follow up tracking of the commodities in pipeline and report the same to the appropriate personnel;
  • Maintain records and/or ensure that assistants assigned to the various stores keep records of the food stuff offloaded/loaded at the warehouses, adhering to the WFP systems;
  • Control incoming food commodities by such methods as physical counts, random weight checks, rejection/reporting of any spoiled commodity, reconditioning of underweight bags, etc;
  • Deliver goods on request against official and approved documentation;
  • Sign waybills of received and dispatched cargo
  • Keep updated records on stock register / stack cards, and/or computer inventory lists;
  • Maintain organized filing.
  • Make periodic physical inventory checks;
  • Assist in conducting monthly physical inventories.
  • Managing all NFIs available in store with its updated record.
  • Provide overall supervision and training of other tally clerks and casual labour;
  • Handle operational advance if required.
  • Record all food movements in WFP corporate system LESS.
  • Co-ordinate with Cox’s Bazar / Country office when required.
  • Maintain a healthy work environment for all staff members.
  • Report on and, in consultation with others, take appropriate action for the disposal of spoilt commodities;
  • Daily Stocks Movement Reports.
  • All other assigned tasks.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiarity with the special context of refugee camps and makeshift sites in Cox’s Bazar.
  • SAP knowledge would be an added value.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

At least three years of progressively responsible experience in the relevant field including at least one year in the field of transport/ commodity handling /warehousing.

  • Experience using logistics databases to extract routine reports.
  • Experience in managing warehouses with food and NFIs.
  • Experience in managing inventories.
  • Experience in processing invoices

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation


Language: Fluency in oral and written English and Bangla required

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Good Knowledge of MS-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Database etc
  • Knowledge of using office equipment.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
