The Finance Associate will be responsible for providing a variety of specialized tasks in finance functions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations, whilst demonstrating the capacity to research, adapt and evaluate irregular cases, and also to recommend improvements to process delivery and design. At the G-5 level, the below tasks are expected to be carried out with a high level of independence.

How can you make a difference?

The Finance Associate will be responsible for providing a variety of specialized tasks in finance functions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations, whilst demonstrating the capacity to research, adapt and evaluate irregular cases, and also to recommend improvements to process delivery and design.

At the G-5 level, the below tasks are expected to be carried out with a high level of independence.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Assist Snr Admin Assistant in providing support to staff members and their dependents on arrival into the country by processing requests for visas, identity cards, drivers licenses and other necessary personnel-related documents, in accordance with the requirements of the various departments and authorities as well as assistance on completion of official documentation on repatriation.
  • Updates and Maintains notifications on immunities and privileges of UN international staff.
  • Registration and renewal of official and private vehicle license for international staff through routine correspondence in accordance with standard office procedures.
  • Focal person for Assets management for SCO. Maintain the master record of assets and reconcile with physical count on yearly basis.
  • Communicate to HQ on assets count, PSB status etc. Follow up with GSSC on the disposal of assets as per the set procedure.
  • Also admin focal person for any medical evacuation from Somalia office.

Briefs and assists newly arrived international staff, experts and consultants on basic financial procedures and requirements with respect to payments, entitlements, banking and currency provisions and other requirements relating to accounts and finance. 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education is required with professional/university level courses in Accounting and Finance/Business administration considered as an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of clerical experience in the area of finance and accounting is required.
  • Fluency of English and local language of the duty station required.
