(Senior) Prudential Regulation Officers – Risk Management

This is a full time position at grade 5/6

The term of this contract will be 4 years

The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs,
with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.

Purpose
You will contribute to further developing EIB’s Best Banking Practice framework and EIB’s risk management policies (credit, market and liquidity risk measurement, capital adequacy, stress testing, etc.) to ensure compliance with prudential regulatory standards.

Operating Network
As the (Senior) Prudential Regulation Officer internally referred to as Senor (Officer) Credit Risk Management you will report to the Head of Regulatory Surveillance & Risk Policy Unit. You will work in close cooperation with the colleagues of the Division and Regulation and EIB Group Risk Department.  You will have regular contact with colleagues in other EIB Directorates internal/external auditors and consultants. You will also establish a network of external contacts in your area of activity.

Accountabilities

Within the role of the (Senior) Prudential Regulation Officer you will:

  • Monitor and analyse prudential regulatory developments in the area of risk management.
  • Assess qualitative and quantitative impact of prudential regulatory developments on EIB’s activities.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive inventory of relevant prudential regulations and guidelines issued by international and EU institutions.
  • Provide input to ad-hoc analyses and written communications on specific regulatory matters to senior management or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the Bank’s self-assessment of compliance with best banking practice in terms of risk policy, models, processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the implementation of specific Best Banking Practice framework projects within the risk management area:

             - Analyse regulatory requirements
            - Develop business specifications
            - Coordinate related implementation, in conjunction with other EIB Directorates (including IT when appropriate) and external consultants
            - Develop / update internal documentation of methodologies and processes.

  • Perform ad-hoc activities in special initiatives related to the responsibilities of the Unit.

 Qualifications

  • University degree (preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Law, Economics, Quantitative studies) with relevant exposure to Banking / Finance / Risk Management. Post-graduate studies in one of these subjects would be an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience acquired in a bank, with a banking regulator/supervisor or as a consultancy provider. 
  • Practical knowledge of the EU and international prudential regulatory standards and recent regulatory developments. 
  • Fluent English and/or French(*) and a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

(*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in one of the two languages. If selected, such candidates will be hired on the condition that they build up rapidly knowledge of the relevant language and accept that their future career in the EIB may be subject to the attainment of sufficient proficiency in both of the Bank’s working languages
