The Trade and Market Intelligence (TMI) section is part of ITC’s Division of Market Development (DMD). TMI has developed and is continuously evolving a set of market analysis tools including Trade Map and Market Access Map among others and also customizes these tools for specific regions to facilitate greater intra-regional trade and integration. There are made available for business actors, particularly MSMEs. In addition, TMI delivers capacity-building services for beneficiaries in using its tools and analysis methodologies in support of strategic and operational trade-related decisions.

R ESPONSIBILITI:S

Under the direct supervision of the Market Analyst and the overall supervision of the Chief, TMI the

  • Works with key clients to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of capacity building in market and research analysis related programmes/projects; monitors and analyzes specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions to ensure high quality of the section activities; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
  • Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, etc., to include collecting, analyzing and presenting results of surveys and other information gathered from diverse sources.   • Provides substantive support for evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in evaluations or research activities and studies.
  • Assists in performing consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.
  • Participates in survey initiatives; assists with design of data collection tools; issues data collection tools, reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares preliminary conclusions.
  • Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications and marketing materials for communication and visibility of ITC market analysis tools
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposed participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics.
  • Undertakes capacity-building activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on market analysis and research.
  • Participates in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and preparation of related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as required.

E LIGIBILITCRITERIA

EDUCATION : A first-level university degree in business administration, management, economics or a related field.

Note: Candidates who have completed an advanced university degree (Masters of equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field may be accepted with two years of relevant work experience.

W ORK EXPERIENCE : A minimum of four years of relevant experience in project/programme management, administration or related area. Experience in market analysis and capacity building desirable.

L ANGUAGES : Advanced knowledge of English and French required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.

R EQUIRED K NOWLEDGE AND S KILLS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to international trade an market analysis and research
  • Knowledge of survey design and implementation
  • Knowledge of Camtasia and Microsoft Publisher
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proven capability to write clear and concise project documents and reports

T ERMS OF SERVICE

Appointments with ITC are service-limited to this organization. The conditions of service are governed

by the United Nations Staff Rules and Regulations. This is a fixed term appointment.

INDICATIVEA NNUAL S ALARY AT THEP-2 LEVEL

Annual Salary (net of tax)

Starting from 48,472US$, with annual increments subject to performance.

Post Adjustment

In addition to the above annual salary a monthly post adjustment is paid. The rate as at June 2018

is 72,4% of the monthly salary. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations

may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or

inflation.
