The Digital Strategy Section (DSS) seeks to hire a Web Project Manager who will play a central role in the rollout of the new unicef.org to UNICEF’s Regional and Country (field) offices and to accomplishing the team’s objectives.

This position resides within the Digital Strategy Section (DSS), as part of the Division of Communications and reports directly to the Field Support and Web Build Lead. The Digital Strategy Section manages all global digital channels and digital communications for UNICEF, and is responsible for the build, management and maintenance of global website properties. Within the Section, the Digital Governance and Platforms team is mid-way through the implementation of a new organisation-wide web platform, and requires surge project management support to help scale up the rollout of the platform to UNICEF’s 150 field offices.  

How can you make a difference?

Under the overall direction the Field Support and Web Build Lead, the Web Project Manager will play a central role in the rollout of the new unicef.org to UNICEF’s Regional and Country (field) offices and to accomplishing the team’s objectives to:

  • Support field colleagues in setting up and launching Country Office sites on the new Drupal web platform;
  • Coordinate project participants from field colleagues, DOC managers, ICT/web development team and other internal stakeholders;
  • Scale up and optimise internal processes to maximise the cadence of site launches in 2018, ensuring field offices are supported and able to benefit from adopting the new technology as early as possible;
  • Provide additional project tracking, co-ordination and reporting for supervisor and section as required.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

Establishing and tracking milestones for the internal team and field office stakeholders; developing and optimising supporting processes to streamline the achievement of milestones;

  • Coordinate with field office colleagues to develop realistic website launch timelines; check in regularly with stakeholders to monitor and track progress to milestones and support them to progress through project activities;
  • Manage launch timeline for multiple new sites concurrently; own and manage launch ‘queue,’ staggering site launches based on individual office launch timeline using a staggered approach; execute related technical, support, and content activities;
  • Monitor actual progress against plans and conduct risk analysis and mitigation when necessary;
  • Work with ICTD/web development team to execute technical tasks and schedule site launches in amongst their wider operation and workload;
  • Report project status to supervisors and project stakeholders; present, answer questions, and provide documentation to stakeholders;
  • Maintain project documentation; develop and maintain dashboard/s to track workflow and progress;
  • Co-ordinate with other project managers and project owners to manage resources and ensure alignment of adjacent project stream timelines; establish tools and processes for project and resource management for the project team;
  • May be asked to work on weekends;
  • May be asked to travel;
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 As an advocate for every child, you will have…

 Advanced university degree in communication, web development, new media, development, international communications and/or related, extensive training and experience in digital communications and project management.

An undergraduate degree plus at least 2 years of demonstrated professional experience in the field of web project management.

  • Experienced in technology and creation of websites; web-savvy is an absolute requirement
  • Prior project management experience working on website/software development projects
  • Degree or certification in Project Management a plus
  • Experience working with content management
  • Experience working on enterprise-level web projects with localisation and multiple users and groups
  • Experience working with various project management methodologies
  • Must have strong people skills and be a good diplomatic communicator   
  • Must be very well organized and detail oriented
  • Experience working with Drupal technology is highly desirable
  • Experience with work in a non-profit organization a plus

Deliverables 

  • Delivery of agreed number of site launches, monthly (to be agreed with supervisor upon appointment)
  • Dashboard implementation for tracking and reporting on project status
  • Streamlined, replicable site delivery process

Supervisor and timeframes for reviewing milestones and performance; payment terms

This position is supervised by the Field Support and Web Build Lead, Digital Strategy/DOC. Reviews conducted every 6 months and at the end of contract.

Performance indicators for evaluation of results:

  • Standard UNICEF Performance Evaluations conducted every 6 months and at end of contract.
  • Timely delivery of deliverables and adherence to timeline and set deadlines. 

Payment Terms:  Monthly submission of invoices paid in USD. In the case of unsatisfactory completion of work, payment will only be made for work satisfactorily completed and accepted by UNICEF.
