You will provide support to the Business Partnering or Performance Management and Career Development Section, to provide administrative, procedural and operational support and assistance to the efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources functions for all categories of staff, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF HR rules and regulations.

The Division of Human Resources (DHR) has the primary accountability for achieving the high-level result of effective and streamlined human resource (HR) policies, procedures and quality advisory support to develop and maintain a flexible, highly skilled and motivated workforce throughout the organization and ensuring effective deployment of high caliber talent to deliver better results for children.  UNICEF has an extensive global presence, and strong partnerships with governments and non-governmental organizations at national and community levels. How can you make a difference?

You will provide support to the Business Partnering or Performance Management and Career Development Section, to provide administrative, procedural and operational support and assistance to the efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources functions for all categories of staff, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF HR rules and regulations.

This may include:

  • Support to business partnering in assisting clientele with services related to the HR life cycle.
  • Support the business partners in assisting clientele in using HR systems such as Talent Management, Agora and Achieve.
  • Involvement in performance management and career development initiatives.
  • Assisting the respective team in organizing and conducting courses, workshops and events by preparing and organizing distribution of materials for participants, ensuring availability of training venues and required equipment and supplies, while providing logistical and secretarial support at workshops and events as necessary.
  • Monitors and supports recruitment processes.
  • Contracting of consultants or other service providers, including processing invoices and filing documents for approval and, thereafter processing in the relevant system (SAP/VISION).
  • Travel assistance to staff in section for travel arrangements and entitlements based on the organization’s rules and policies. Liaising with relevant travel focal points to ensure that the organization obtains the best service and price for all travel.
  • Support to capacity development activities and conferences by making the logistical arrangements, through engaging with facilitators, caterers and hosts.  Arranging times through liaising with participants over availability and works with budget focal points and section over costs and needs.
  • General office support including maintenance of HR data and records.
  • Other duties as required.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have… 

  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • A minimum of 5 (five) years of relevant experience in providing progressively responsible administrative support services (required).
  • Working knowledge of UNICEF systems, policies and procedures is considered an asset.
  • Strong writing, interpersonal and communications skills. 
  • Having passed the UN GGST Exam (Global General Service Test) in English is an asset.
  • Non-US candidates must be in possession of a valid US G-4 visa or be a US permanent resident/citizen.
  • Fluency in English is required.  Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language would be an asset.
