This role has been created to ensure that we continue to protect people from sexual harassment exploitation and abuse, and that this is managed in a professional, sensitive, coordinated, accountable and urgent way, in line with best practices within CARE and the sector.

The PSEA Investigator/capacity builder will be an important member of a new PSEA safeguarding unit within CARE USA, will be responsible for conducting investigations of incidents of reported SEA, and developing and conducting training of staff and trainers in the area of conducting investigations, as well as awareness and prevention of sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse generally. He/She will work with CO and other units to develop prevention and preparedness plans.

He/she is responsible for conducting, in consultation with PSEA Lead, P&C and Legal, investigations into reported cases, ensuring a high standard of practice throughout the investigation of the case, as well as record keeping during and after cases are closed.
The post holder will be required to provide advice and support to Managers at all levels and in different cultural contexts.
This is a global role; therefore, travel is a key aspect of this role.

Qualifications:

• Degree level of education or equivalent
• 10 years of safeguarding experience
• Professional qualification in managing people/psychology or criminology
• Training in managing sensitive investigations
• Training in interview skills and techniques or mediation techniques
• Must have experience in effectively managing a team of people and more in a matrix reporting environment.
• Must have significant previous experience of managing sensitive and serious investigations involving SEA
• Must have a high level of resilience and ability to remain calm under difficult circumstances
• Must have experience of managing organizational change and uncertainty
• Must be able to impartial in the most challenging situations
• Must have excellent problem–solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills
• Highly confidential and discrete
• Proven experience in building and maintaining trust
• Experienced trainer, facilitator, and coach
