About VSO

VSO is the world's leading development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty. We are unique in the way we bring people together to share their skills and experience, generate insights and ideas and, most of all, take action against poverty and exclusion. It's a highly effective approach that works, and today is helping millions of people in some of the world's poorest communities lift themselves out of poverty.

Role overview

The role will be responsible for a suite of monthly management reports and analysis, ensuring month end processes are completed accurately and timely. As a key contact for VSO's UK regional office teams, you will provide finance/accounting advice on a day to day basis and proactively resolve financial queries, including analytical support, processing journals and reconciling accounts. You will contribute to continuous improvement and work with other team members to ensure new processes are successfully introduced and maintained. You will support non-finance teams with budgeting and procurement processes.

Skills, qualifications and experience

You will be a "finalist" part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or international equivalent), and commitment to gaining full accountancy qualification, or newly qualified accountant. You will have proven financial ability; good analytical and problem solving skills; and be able to provide quality financial advice. You will have advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel / finance systems, and the ability to develop and maintain clear, high quality and well-laid out reports and analysis. You will have good communications and interpersonal skills with an ability to work with a multicultural team, including remote support and capacity-building with regional and country finance teams. You will be adaptable to competing priorities and actively troubleshoot in diverse situations, including appropriate escalation of critical issues. The role will require you to be flexible and occasionally may need to adapt working hours to meet the needs of Finance teams in different time zones.
