Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan.IRC’s programs in Jordan focus on urban interventions in the north that address gender-based violence specifically violence against women and girls for Syrian refugees and host community members as well as reproductive health care to Syrian refugees through two clinics based in Ramtha and Mafraq.Since January 2013, IRC also carries out Child Protection programs in Syrian refugee camps, providing specialized services for the identification, support and protection of unaccompanied children (UAC) and other children at risk.

Job Overview/Summary: The position will be responsible for providing nursing care to the patients (both male and male patients) at the IRC health facility in Mafarq Fixed clinic.

Major Responsibilities: The Nurse will be specifically responsible for performing the following activities:

In close collaboration with the Senior Health Officer (in charge), medical doctors and other clinic staff, provide professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Duties include:

  • Greeting patients and preparing them for medical doctors examination
  • Conducting vital signs measurements and other medical checkups for patients
  • Preparing equipment and ensuring examination rooms are clean and stocked with required supplies and materials
  • Aiding physician as required during treatment and examination
  • Updating patientsregistration books and other related appointment information
  • Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts and other pertinent information
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Performing other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned
  • Preparing and facilitating regular health education sessions for patients at the clinics

Qualifications

Education: A certified/registered Nurse

Work Experience: 1 to 3 years working experience as a nurse

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

·Good communication skills

·Ability to relate to and motivate local staff effectively

·Committed to helping refugees and working within IRC policies

Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic

Certificates or Licenses: A certified nurse with license of nursing as per Jordan MOH policy and maintain his/her license throughout the duration of employment with the IRC

Working Environment:The IRC is providing Primary health Care services to the Syrian Refugees and vulnerable Jordanian communities in Mafraq and Ramtha through fixed clinics and mobile clinics and is planning to start health care delivery at the primary level Mafraq Fixed clinic. This position will be primarily based in the IRC health facility in Mafraq Fixed clinic but will also provide the required services in Mafraq and mobile fixed and mobile clinics as and when needed. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is generally calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff informed about the new developments.
