DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Field Office in Maroua, the incumbent will be responsible of the duties as described below:

  • Assist in liaising with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing partnership
  • Assist in identifying the capacity gaps and support the capacity building of partners (including NGOs, national and local government) to prepare or and respond to food assistance needs, e.g. through project management support and/ or learning initiatives.
  • Support in managing partnership, and performance evaluation process on biannual basis ensuring that rigorous qualify standards are maintained; and ensure compliance with WFP’s corporate policies, criteria and procedures
  • Assist in the preparation of Field Level Agreements (FLA), Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) of all approved partnership proposals and submit to the Program Policy Officer for review before final submission to the Head of Office.
  • Support to provide continuing liaison with bilateral food aid, resilience, livelihood and early recovery programmes, with UN agencies and with NGOs providing technical or other forms of assistance to WFP’s assisted projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of periodic and timely reporting on WFP partnership activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of timely analytical and critical reports including proposals for improvements in operation and the scope of programmes;
  • Assist in the design and maintaining of databases of all partnership agreements including FLAs, and MOU relating to WFP projects
  • Analyse data, identify trends and/or issues and propose solutions to problems, and ideas to inform the development of new strategies to better secure and steward private sector donors by channel (individuals, corporate, foundation, NGO).
  • Contribute to conceptualizing, planning, implementing, communicating and reporting on various outreach activities to promote, advocate, sensitize and inform various audiences about WFP Maroua Sub Office.
  • Contribute to planning, organizing, facilitating and reporting on field visits for the media (local and international), donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide secretariat support (schedule and organize meetings, prepare notes for the record and monitor follow-up actions) for liaison with other UN agencies and other partners over communication matters.
  • Provide regular information to educate new and potential donors/partners on the strategy, design, relevance and impact of programmes, to advocate the work of WFP.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:

  • Experience in working with technical teams (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.)
  • Ability to contribute to implementation of Programmes.
  • Has observed or assisted with policy discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: GCE Advanced Level or Baccalauréat.

    A Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Public Administration, information management and communications will be an asset.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in Public Relations, Business Public, information management and communications, Territorial Administration
  • Knowledge and familiarity of the functioning of territorial administration system is an asset.

LANGUAGES:

  • Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English.
