The Danish Refugee Council was founded in Denmark in 1956 and has since grown to become an international humanitarian organisation with more than 7,000 staff. The Danish Refugee Council assists refugees and internally displaced persons across the globe: we provide emergency aid, fight for their rights, and strengthen their opportunity for a brighter future. We work in conflict-affected areas, along the displacement routes, and in the countries where refugees settle. In cooperation with local communities, we strive for responsible and sustainable solutions. We work toward successful integration and – whenever possible – for the fulfillment of the wish to return home.
With the establishment of the Representation Office in Geneva in 2013, DRC strengthened its representation and engagement in the international humanitarian policy forum. The DRC Representation in Geneva serves as an advocacy and policy-influencing hub that engages with UN agencies, member states to the UN as well as the INGO community in Geneva to influence policies in the area of forced displacement. The Representation seeks to use DRC’s accumulated policy expertise, analytical capacity and wide-ranging operational base in over 35 field missions around the globe to add value to policy debates in Geneva. In addition, the Geneva Representation hosts a number of projects to be supported on administrative, logistics and finance matters.
