How can you make a difference? 

You will be joining a team of around 4,400 staff in the West Bank Field Office working to foster the human development of some 800,000 registered Palestine refugees.••

The purpose of the consultancy is to develop training materials that will be delivered to approximately 3,000 UNRWA West Bank frontline staff, as well as deliver a ToT on the training material.• The national consultant will work in partnership with an international consultant selected by UNRWA, to fulfil the objectives of the assignment.

The main responsibilities include:

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent is to:

•         Review existing UNRWA materials (standard operating procedures, technical instructions, other training materials etc) as well as materials available globally, and develop three separate training packages that complement and reinforce existing UNRWA materials. The training packages should be culturally relevant and specifically adapted for UNRWA West Bank as well as the specific target audience/training participants. The training packages should be developed in close consultation with UNRWA. The training material should initially be developed in English and once finalized and agreed upon with UNRWA, translated into Arabic. Training topics include safe identification and referral of protection cases, caring for child survivors of sexual abuse, and case management.

•         Deliver a Training of Trainers training to a local implementing partner on the safe identification and referral and caring for child survivors of sexual abuse training packages.

•         Directly deliver the case management training to UNRWA case workers and their supervisors.

•         Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Conditions of service•

• ISP's are fully responsible, at their expense, for insurance covering the period of their services with the agency.

Additional information

•         A valid driving license for the West Bank.

•         Capacity to acquire a permit for Jerusalem.

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education

Degree from an accredited educational institution in social work, psychology or a protection related field.

Post graduate degree in Education and/or Training or a related field, or 4 years of training experience.

Work

experience

Eight years of relevant work experience in protection, particularly in relation to training.

Experience working on case management, gender and child protection projects in the Middle East.

Experience delivering protection trainings to diverse audiences.

Capacity to translate large protection documents from English to Arabic.

Language(s)

Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English.

Equivalency:

Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

•         Strong Leadership and inter personal skills.

•         Demonstrated organizational skills.

•         Knowledge of participatory approaches.

•         Knowledge of communication strategies and techniques.

•         Able to work independently.

•         Strong computer skills: must be competent in the use of Windows, MS office programs (Word, Excel), email programs.
