OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To collaborate with the Government of Indonesia and relevant stakeholders within the framework of Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) in significantly reducing burden related to malaria and other vector-borne diseases; prevention, control and/or elimination and eradication of neglected tropical diseases by providing strategic leadership, engaging in partnerships and shaping the research agenda towards strengthening the capacity of the national programme to reduce the disease burden.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of Technical Officer (MAL & VBDC), and overall guidance of MO-CDS and WHO Representative, the incumbent will\:

 

1. Provide support to the Technical Officer (MAL & VBDC) in providing technical and programmatic support to NMCP in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of malaria prevention and control programme activities as outlined in the country plan of action;

 

2. Support the implementation of vector control activities such as LLIN, IRS and larval source management.

 

3. Update local information to inform vector control and identify challenges to its effectiveness such as insecticide resistance and residual parasite transmission.

 

4. Provide technical support to District Health System in implementing programme activities including early diagnosis, prompt and effective treatment based on symptoms, locating treatment facilities and referring patients to those facilities, prevention through promotion, and increased awareness of community about malaria and other vector borne disease prevention and control;

 

5. Assist in the development of detailed work plan and initiate necessary actions for the implementation of various programme components;

 

6. Assist VBDC/MoH and NMCP with the disease burden estimation, impact and progress measurement of VBDC control strategies. The incumbent collaborates with all concerned government departments, cross-cutting programmes, bilateral and voluntary agencies to facilitate promotion of VBDC policies and exchange of information;

 

7. Coordinate with vector control sub directorate and related partners including technical working groups and expert committees for supporting entomology and vector control activities including monitoring insecticide resistance, integrated vector management and other malaria vector activities;

 

8. Contribute in the preparation of progress report for donor-funded projects, e.g. Global Fund;9. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or WHO Representative.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential\: University degree in medicine or health-related sciences


Desirable\: Advanced degree in public health or tropical medicine or epidemiology or related fields and/or training in malaria and other vector borne disease programme management

Experience

Essential\: At least two years of professional work experience in the field of public health, malaria or vector borne disease prevention and control programmes.


Desirable\: Experience in the field of programme management and training; experience in working on other Vector borne disease control programmes (For example, Dengue). Experience of working in the UN or other international development organization would be an asset.

Skills

- Expertise in public health, project management in malaria and/or other vector-borne disease control programmes and good understanding of the country-specific needs.

- Sound technical knowledge in epidemiology, prevention and control aspects of malaria programme.

- Ability to make evidence-based decision on implementation of interventions.- Technical expertise and overall attitude at work are also required mandatory competencies.


Other Skills (e.g. IT)\: Proficiency in Computer, Microsoft Office applications and presentation skills.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at IDR 516,743,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
