Your team

Within the Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, Safety, Quality & Security (SQS) is responsible for managing activities required to develop and maintain the MUAC Integrated Management System including the monitoring of its operation. It ensures compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements. SQS is furthermore in charge of developing and maintaining the safety, quality and security objectives and policies as part of the MUAC and Agency strategy.

Your role

You will perform the following tasks under the responsibility of your superior:



  • interact and coordinate with OPS management to ensure that the Maastricht Management System (MMS) processes meet and are developed to match the OPS domain needs;

  • analyse and optimise OPS domain MMS processes in coordination with OPS specialists;

  • determine training needs, develop and deliver training to staff and to coach staff in the OPS domain to execute safety and quality activities (e.g. specification and implementation of changes and corrective actions) in line with MMS;

  • participate in and carry out safety assessment activities primarily in the OPS domain;

  • develop safety cases for changes of operational or technical nature;

  • plan, conduct and report on surveys and audits in accordance with the overall MUAC audit programme;

  • investigate and resolve issues, and create reports for management on safety, quality and security status;

  • coordinate and collaborate closely with the Safety, Quality and IT Security (SQI) team in the Engineering domain, and to advise on safety and quality activities to ensure adherence to MMS;

  • participate in internal/external meetings and outside activities with external partners/users (e.g. military centres, ANSPs, 4S-NSA, etc.);

  • perform any other tasks in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies


  • University studies of at least three years in a relevant subject (e.g. engineering, business process management, etc.)

  • A minimum of 1-year relevant professional experience.

  • Experience in safety assessment in an operational environment.

  • Experience in analysing, defining and describing processes.

  • Experience with conducting safety audits and surveys.

  • Drafting skills (English).

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.

  • The following would be an advantage:

    • Knowledge of ATM

    • Experience in preparing and delivering trainings

    • Experience with tools for compliance management, requirements management and/or SharePoint.

  • The selected candidate will be offered a contract of 3 Year(s) pursuant to the provisions of the Conditions of Employment of Contract Staff at EUROCONTROL. The contract may be renewed. Before being established in the post, he/she will be required to provide certified copies of his/her degrees and successfully serve a probationary period of 9 months.

  • The successful candidate shall be appointed in principle at the basic grade of the advertised grades.
