POSITION SUMMARY:
Americares seeks a public relations professional who is fluent in English and Spanish to serve as a liaison between the emergency medical teams of Americares in Arauca, Atlántico, La Guajira and Norte de Santander, and the Marketing and Communications team at the headquarters of Americares in the USA. This is a temporary full-time contract position based in Bogotá that reports to the Country Director in Colombia. The Marketing and Communications Department is responsible for the global communication, brand and visual identity of Americares; develops compelling visual and written content; runs successful public relations campaigns; and provides support to the Development Department and its key partners. The Public Relations Coordinator of Colombia will focus on relations with the media and external relations, but will also support the collection of content, including the collection of stories and photographs; documenting the work of Americares that provides medical care to Venezuelans who need it.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Write press releases, website and newsletter articles, social media content, fact sheets and other collateral materials, as necessary;
• Distribute press releases, information sheets and notices for the media;
• Respond to inquiries from the international and Colombian media;
• Manage media lists and databases;
• Help with media visits and events and properly train staff to deal with media
• Manage photographic and audiovisual material on the site;
• Coordinate the collection of information with the program team and guarantee an accurate representation of the work of Americares.
• Review the communication materials with the Country Director to ensure compliance with the programmatic objectives, the local security policy and the strategic objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent writing, editing, correction and oral communication skills;
• Excellent relations with the Colombian and international media in Colombia;
• A minimum of three to five years of experience in external communications and / or media relations;
• Experience in the creation and management of media lists;
• Experience writing press releases and releases;
• Familiarity with the AP style;
• Competence in Microsoft Office. Experience with SharePoint and Cision - desirable;
• Great interest in the line of international assistance, development and health;
• Highly organized, with great attention to detail and compliance with deadlines.
