BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest provider of humanitarian food assistance. On average, WFP reaches more than 90 million people with food assistance in 83 countries each year Around 14,000 people work for the organization, most of them in remote areas, directly serving the hungry poor.
ShareTheMeal is developed as the first pilot project of the WFP Innovation Accelerator, part of the Innovation and Change Management Division, which aims to combine start-up lean thinking with non-profit projects to reduce food insecurity and malnutrition. This division reports to the Chief of Staff, Office of the Executive Director, of WFP and seeks to create value through prioritizing and better harnessing innovative ideas, as well as scaling up transformative projects to a global level.
The ShareTheMeal app was launched in 2015 and currently has more than 1,000,000 users. The team, located in Berlin, is focused on further developing the app to include new and innovative features, and on increasing the engagement of existing users and growing the user base through marketing and communication initiatives.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant, reporting to the Head of Operations for the ShareTheMeal initiative, is expected to:
- Develop self-driven analyses on customer giving patterns and product usage and derive clear and actionable recommendations for business decisions
- Refining our user segmentation and triggers for marketing automation
- Design and implement experiments to evaluate the impact of product optimizations and new features by defining key metrics
- Measuring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and developing our understanding of marketing attribution modelling
- Collaborate with Product and Tech, Marketing and Management to define and track relevant business goals
- Help foster a data-driven culture throughout our team and apply best practices
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Adhoc and regular data analyses conducted as agreed with management and other stakeholders
- Analytics tools and data visualisation (dashboard) developed and rolled out
- Documentation and handover to the Head of Operations for ShareTheMeal
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree is preferred
Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in a business intelligence role, including data analysis and business intelligence tools, techniques and technology
Knowledge & Skills:
- Deep knowledge of SQL (e.g. MySQL, SAP HANA), with mobile app and web analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Firebase) and Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Talent for communicating the meaning behind the numbers both verbally and in writing
- Experience with reporting tools (e.g. Google Data Studio, Tableau, Looker, Pentaho, Power BI) and data visualization concepts
- Eagerness to tackle problems outside your core competencies and learn new technologies as required.
- Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the World Food Programme
Languages: In addition to a high proficiency in written and spoken English, knowledge of a second UN language is a plus.
