UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.
Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.
And we never give up.
UNICEF is driving an organization-wide acceleration of its engagement with the private sector, to deliver on our Strategic Plan and the commitments for children in the SDGs by 2030. Partnering effectively with the Private Sector has the potential to transform programmatic impact, advocacy, and resources for children. It includes a fundamental change in how UNICEF engages with business, to mainstream this across the organization.
To this end, a global private sector capacity building programme is being designed and rolled out across UNICEF to equip the organization with the required skills, knowledge, tools and other resources to maximize results through working with the private sector. Foundational knowledge on engaging with the private sector – in its widest sense - is to be built encompassing all forms of engagement (including resource mobilization) with all private sector audiences. This Foundational learning will be accompanied by a deep dive on working with business (“Business deep dive”), starting in 2019 with a set of priority countries, and made relevant to different country contexts and opportunities. National Committees may be brought into this programme.
It is UNICEF’s vision that by 2021, through the capacity building programme, all UNICEF offices are equipped to be able to identify and seize opportunities to leverage the Private Sector to produce results for children and are actively seizing those opportunities where it makes strategic sense.
For every child, Hope
