UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

Background

UNICEF Namibia embarked on a new country programme cycle (2019-2023) based on an integrated life-cycle approach. The Adolescent Development Learning and Protection Programme component has prioritized adolescents and young people's issues and is geared to implement robust adolescent programming to ensure that all adolescents are learning, healthy, developing and participating in an environment free from violence, exploitation and abuse.

In Namibia about 22% of the population is made up of young people 15 - 24 years. This approach is in therefore also line with UNICEF's Global Generation Unlimited (GenU) agenda to make sure that every young person aged 10 - 24 is in some form of school, learning, training or employment by 2030, further capitalizing on the outcomes of previous successful UNICEF interventions with young people now graduating from the adolescence age group.

Generation Unlimited is a new partnership established to bring together public and private partners, and especially young people to engage young people in every aspect of the partnership, leading, informing, advising and helping implement at every step of the way. UNICEF Namibia therefore fosters strategic partnerships to leverage support for the realization of children's rights because children's rights are everybody's business

It is against this background that the section seeks to provide an internship opportunity to a young person to exercise their right to participation, gain work experience to develop their professional networks and further provide them with an opportunity to put their academic learning into practice.
