Organizational Setting

FAO Representation in Cambodia is looking for an Operations Coordinator to be responsible for coordinating FAO Cambodia’s Forestry Programme and in part provide advice and support to FAO Cambodia’s Operations Unit.

Reporting Lines

The Operations Coordinator (Forestry Programme) reports to the Head of Operations.

Technical Focus

  • Projects/programme operations and monitoring
  • Forestry programme development
  • Multi-stakeholder coordination

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation of the FAO Cambodia Forestry Programme portfolio (i.e. facilitates management, reporting, administration and communications with relevant government and FAO counterparts);
  • Advise on strategic planning on Forestry related issues, by managing and promoting linkages with the various FAO units, government counterparts and other external partners, identifying opportunities for FAO’s programme development;
  • Support FAO Cambodia’s role in co-chairing the Technical Working Group of Forestry Reform and supporting the Development Partner’s network;
  • Manage and ensure efficient and effective implementation of the Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism Work Plan 2016-2020;
  • Advise and support the implementation of FAO Cambodia project portfolio by monitoring progress (finance and operations) and where necessary, propose corrective measures to overcome implementation challenges;
  • Advise and support the design of new projects, especially on issues related to budget, operational requirements, institutional arrangements, as well as gender, and potentially youth issues;
  • Coordinate the preparation of inception, progress and final reports and other ad-hoc reports;
  • Support follow up actions at project completion, as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in business administration or public administration, social science, political science, international relations or a related field
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration at national and international level or related area
  • Extensive knowledge on the forestry sector in Cambodia
  • Language proficiency in English and Khmer
  • Cambodian Nationality

  • Extent and relevance of experience in the field of operations (administration, human resources, finance, and management)

  • Extent of knowledge of the procedures of FAO’s main development partners
  • Understanding of FAO policies and programmes is considered an asset
  • Extend knowledge on the forestry sectors
