Unit Overview:

ICMPD is inviting all interested candidates to apply for the Internship position with the Mobility Partnership Facility (MPF), an EU-funded initiative contributing to the operationalisation of the Global Approach to Migration and Mobility (GAMM). The MPF aims to strengthen the European Union (EU) dialogue and cooperationon migration andmobility issues withitsmainpartnercountriesin this area. Job Description:

The intern provides support to the work of the MPF Team based in ICMPD’s Brussels mission in Belgium.

The intern monitors developments related to MPF work and developments at national and international level in relation to the external dimension of migration, with particular focuson Mobility Partnerships and Pilot Projects on Legal Migration. S/he provides support to events organisation, research or administrative needs as necessary, collects, compiles and organises inputs to meetings, project reports, presentations, and communication materials. S/he attends and reports on events relevant to ICMPD’s work and mandate.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:

Carry out MPF content and research support tasks in view of the organisation of meetings, knowledge management and communication activities.

1 Assist MPF team in the preparation of substantive project outputs (research data, assist in analysis and drafting).

Assist MPF Team in the organisation of events (both content and logistics), including regional thematic meetings.

Carry out MPF administrative and logistical tasks as requested and according to ICMPD rules, e.g. event management.

Edit/proofread working documents.

Perform any other duties as required.

The intern understands ICMPD, its mandate and the function of the MPF. The intern has a strengthened understanding of migration, mobility partnerships, EU institutions and the Brussels policy environment.

Incumbent Profile:

Excellent oral and written command of English, including the ability to prepare reports. Other languages will be considered an asset.

Knowledge of migration issues and European institutions.

Excellent communication skills, adaptability and flexibility.

Ability to work independently.

Good organisational skills including managing conflicting priorities and working with tight deadlines.

Ability to work effectively with colleagues from different cultural and professional backgrounds.

Good analytical and interpersonal skills.

Corporate Qualifications:

Education:

University degree in international cooperation, project development and implementation, development studies, international relations, law, European studies, public administration, economics, social or political science, migration or other related field.

Experience:

Experience of working within an office environment.

Knowledge, skills, abilities:

Computer proficiency (especially Microsoft Word and Excel)

Compensation:

ICMPD offers a monthly fee of EUR 500,00, and will provide accident insurance for the duration of the internship. However, travel expenses will not be reimbursed and Health insurance is the responsibility of the incumbent.

The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with ICMPD.
