The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC are preparing to launch an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC will be implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees.  As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox’s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.

POSITION PROFILE

Overall purpose of the role:

Responsible for the management and analysis of data related to GBV program activities with the aim to provide reliable, quality and comprehensive information that supports the development of an evidence-based humanitarian response. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

Responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

 

        Data management and analysis

  • Maintaining the data in the newly developed tools by supervising the field team on data entry and generating regular reports for information management, MEAL and subsector reporting purposes
  • Ensure effective data management by developing GBV data collection tools and methodologies, designing database systems for data management and analysis purposes.

     

    Ensure availability of updated and quality information for informed decision-making by DRC’s GBV team by identifying pertinent variables, including analyzing and interpreting multiples datasets, identifying trends and patterns in protection issues and humanitarian needs affecting DRC’s populations of concerns.

    Information management standards

  • Ensure the compliance of information systems and process with the applicable standards and guidelines related to information management and data protection, including the Protection Information Management (PIM) standards and principles and DRC’s internal guidelines; and implications of the IASC Case Management and MHPSS Guidelines.

 

  • Information dissemination
  • Drafts information products such as reports, charts and infographics by turning data into graphic products to facilitate the dissemination of information at the line manager’s discretion. To this end, designs the layouts of reporting and presentation templates using graphic design programs ensuring the attractiveness and clarity of the information products.

    Translation and Interpretation

  • Small volumes of translation, usually from English to Bangla, will be required of the post-holder, who will also check the quality of outsourced translations
  •  Ensure the compliance of information systems and process with the applicable standards and guidelines related to information management and data protection, including the Protection Information Management (PIM) standards and principles and DRC’s internal guidelines; and implications of the IASC Case Management and MHPSS Guidelines.

Interpretation between English and Bangla will also be required, with on the job capacity building on interpreting provided.

 

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

  • Minimum University degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Statistics, Social Sciences or a relevant field.

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Fluency in English.  
  • Fluency in Bangla.
