UNICEF Sierra Leone is looking for an International Consultant to raise awareness about nutrition, help MoHS mobilise additional resources for IMAM programme, and ensure that contribution of the existing donors is visibly acknowledged. The specific objective is to develop a short film capturing the Nutrition (IMAM) programme for advocacy and fundraising. This video will be used during fund raising meetings as well as shared on UNICEF SL social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, and other outlets and platforms. Duration of the consultancy is 26 working days.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

The IMAM programme is in line with Sustainable Development Goal 2 and 3, that aims at fighting against hunger and promoting healthy lives and well-being. Given that malnutrition is a multifaceted problem in need of a multifaceted solution, IMAM programme is implemented hand in hand with the Government of Sierra Leone’s (GoSL) work to:

  • provide quality health services such as integrated management of child and newborn illnesses and integrated community case management of malaria, pneumonia and diarrhoea;
  • improve access to facility- and community-based nutrition services and promote infant and young child feeding practices;
  • improve access and demand for safe drinking water and sanitation facilities; and
  • improve prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and paediatric HIV treatment services.

As such, UNICEF seeks for a consultant supporting the Nutrition unit in planning, shooting and editing videos on IMAM to help MoHS mobilise resources for IMAM programme and to ensure visibility of the existing donors. The video will focus on IMAM service provided in IPF and OTP, children and care givers affected by SAM and receiving treatment from IPF and OTP, Health Workers and Nutritionists from IPF and OTP, and follow-up in the community for prevention of relapses. The video will be distributed to multiple platforms, including social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc); UNICEF.org; and other outlets and platforms – all are a part of UNICEF digital storytelling.

How can you make a difference?

The objective of the assignment is to raise awareness about nutrition, help MoHS mobilise additional resources for IMAM programme, and ensure that contribution of the existing donors is visibly acknowledged. The video will portray the context of the malnutrition problem such as its causes and its negative impact on the overall growth and development of the child and the country’s development. It will also showcase the effort towards improving malnutrition through IMAM services delivery for the treatment and prevention of SAM children in the four high burden districts. This will be captured through the overall experiences of children that have benefited from IMAM services in Bombali district through the following activities:

  • Shots and interviews with health workers and district nutritionists;
  • Shots and interviews with community members such as community health workers (CHWs) or Mother Support Group (MSG) who screened and referred SAM children to OTP/IPF and provides follow-up preventive and promotive activities;
  • Shots of IMAM services at IPF and OTP;
