The IRC Yemen Country program was established in 2012 and currently is implementing integrated Health, Nutrition, Environmental Health (WASH), Economic Recovery and Development, Women’s Protection and Empowerment and Education programming in eight governorates. The IRC Yemen Country Program operates from its Country Office in Sana’a and its main Field Office in Aden. Other subfield offices include Abyan, Hodeida and Al Dhale’e, with the Al Dhale’e office covering Lahj, and Shabwah.

Job Summary

This position is to provide technical support to health services including general clinical care as described in the pooled fund project.

The position is based in Aden and need to work with two teams with field travelling. S/he will be reporting to Health Manager.

WORKING RELATIONS: 

Responsibilities:

·Assess, plan and implement necessary training for health staff of the MHT.

·To prepare and implement plan for health and nutrition activities, with the guidance of the Health manager, ensure that plans are up to date, understood by staff and monitored daily.

·To prepare and implement plan for health activities in supporting MHTs, with the guidance of the Health Manager, ensure that plans are up to date, understood by staff and monitored daily.

·Participate in design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health and nutrition activities to ensure achievement of the project objectives.

·Conduct regular briefing and supervision of MHT staff, assessing technical and qualitative performance, and providing on job training, coaching and mentoring as required to ensure quality service delivery.

·Coordinate health and nutrition activities with MOPHP health units, health cluster, referral hospital, and with community health officer.

·Review weekly and monthly reports of the MHT and provide feedback to the staff on the progress of the activities.Review project indicators and ensure that targets of the project achieved.

·Compiling the field reports using the standards format and submitting it to the Health Manager.

·Prepare monthly visit schedule for MHT and ensure the team follows the schedule.

·Ensure all required supplies such as drugs and other supplies are available for the use by MHTs.

·Participate in provision of treatment to children with co-existing medical conditions or other individuals as necessary.

·Assist in other relevant activities as requested by Health Manager


Qualifications

Requirements (Qualifications, Skills and Abilities)

1.University degree in Medicine, degree in public health (preferred) or a related technical field.Knowledge and skills in designing and implementing appropriate and effective interventions

2.Analytical skills that demonstrate an understanding of the current context, priorities, and issues in monitoring, data collection and evaluation

3.Ability to work collaboratively with other departments within IRC, health facilities and other organizations

4.Professional work experience in project administration, including data collection and analysis, ideally to Health Program

5.Experience working in health projects.

6.Experience of capacity building, staff training and mentoring

7.Strong communication skills, including excellent English and Arabic (spoken and written).

8.Strong skills in reporting, including narrative writing and data analysis.

9. Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines

Work Environment: There is active conflict in parts of the country and a possibility for further expansion of the conflict and violence into other areas and other states. The situation in Aden remains unpredictable.Security will be thoroughly discussed during the interview process.

Housing: Lodging in Aden and Sana’a is in shared IRC guesthouses. All IRC sites have electricity and internet all day through. Food is the individual’s responsibility.
