Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Chief, Field Technology Section (FTS) Section, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Provide assistance to Network Management Unit’s team members in the administration and maintenance of UNISFA network.
  • Design network infrastructure (physical and virtual) for the purpose of ensuring effective and efficient UNISFA networking systems.
  • Install and administrater the local area networks (LAN) systems, including:
    • Installation of network hardware/software,

    • User access control for network resources,

    • Network maintenance and data security backup.

    • Installation and maintenance of anti-virus protection software for all network servers and other end point potection systems

    • Installation of Cisco based routing and WAN equipment and,

    • Implementation of WAN/LAN security systems.

  • Maintain network operations and software applications (e.g. servers - file, print, application, web, database, proxy, etc., operating systems, server backup, routine maintenance programs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient operations.

  • Provide users' training and support for data communications over LAN/WAN.

  • Co-ordinate the maintenance and expansion of the existing physical network wiringinstallations, when required.

  • Manage servers and network resources including network applications for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines and/or objectives.

  • Recommend equipment, supplies and materials for provisioning budget and network resources acquisition required.

  • Manage complex and challenging information security projects by applying latest information security technologies and appliances thought leadership.

  • Implement new projects and initiatives to ensure compliance with relevant UN policies, standards and control frameworks covering traditional IT system deployments and web-based solutions.

  • Continuous monitoring of network security, identifying vulnerabilities, and implement remedial solutions.

  • Develop and submit IT security architecture and requirements for approval by relevant stakeholders.

  • Undertake cyber risk assessments for identification and documentation of threats to UNISFA and recommend the associated mitigation control measures.

  • Conduct cyber security penetration testing, compile the reports and coordinate with upstream Cyber Security expert (at UNGSC) for remedial measures.

  • Perform cyber security control audits to certify UNISFA compliance with nominated external and internal security standards.

  • Manage external audits working closely with auditors to achieve realistic outcome and coordinate subsequent remedial activities.

  • Conduct assessments on new technology prior to adoption by UNISFA.

  • Respond to information and security assurance requests from business partners.

Carry out other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

University degree, preferably in Information Technology, or equivalent diploma/certficate from Polytehcnic or College.

Required experience: 60 Months Experience remark:

At least 5 years working experience in Information Technology systems.

Knowledge of Cisco hardware (Router, Switch, Firewall including network and security system appliances) is highly desirable.

ITIL certification is desirable.

Working knowledge in Outlook would be an asset.

Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

ITIL certification is desirable.
