ICRISAT seeks applications for the position of Head of Procurement to lead the division of Purchase, Supplies and Disposal, in the Corporate Services Department. This position will be based at ICRISAT’s Headquarters in Patancheru, Hyderabad, India. The incumbent will report to the Director – Corporate Services. This role includes purchase, supplies and disposal.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver cost effective and efficient services in the areas of procurement (domestic and international), shipping, insurance, supplies management and property/asset management.
  • Drive standardization of processes and procedures, transaction methods with suppliers, supplier selection process / ongoing supplier management, data collection, negotiation, performance improvement, cost reduction and communication strategies.
  • Participate in existing and new procurement planning processes to assure timely acquisition of materials to support research, lab and field requirements.
  • Lead negotiations on purchase agreements and vendor contracts with a bias for achievement of quality, delivery, cost containment and process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain systematic, analytical and results-based method for monitoring supplier’s performance and communicate these results to the suppliers and end users.
  • Provide timely and actionable information for corrective measures to be taken where necessary for both the supplier and end users.
  • Manage and support corporate oversight for purchases, across multiple expense categories and create strategic vision for the Institute
  • Driving purchasing synergies to achieve cost savings
  • Manage the disposal of surplus and unserviceable inventory effectively. 

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or an Advanced Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Economics with minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 15-18 years of professional experience in procurement including Inventory and Stores Management, Customs, Excise, GST and import-export procedures in a reputed manufacturing organization with at least 7-9 years of related experience in Managerial position such as Vice-President/Head/Senior Manager/Manager.
  • Ability to lead key negotiations at senior levels with excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyze Data, good understanding of Financial management
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Management Procedures, Strategic Planning and good Organizational Skills etc.
  • Knowledge of any Supply Management Software (Database Management, Inventory Management, Financial Analysis, Point of Sale, Procurement, Project Management, and Enterprise Resource Planning, and General Office Programs) is important.
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure, deliver under tight schedules and maintain high degree of confidentiality
  • Should be a good team player
  • Exposure to working with multi-cultural team

General:

This is a Senior Management Group (SMG) position for three years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent, funding availability and the Institute’s continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
