SCA Background
The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:
The Nutrition Supervisor will work with cooperative attitude to keep the link and integrate the Nutrition activities with BPHS activities in accordance to the national standards at health facility, district and province level Plan, coordinate, supervise/monitor and report nutrition related activities of Sehatmandi project specially OPD/IPD SAM, OPD MAMA and other component of WFP funded Nutrition Project in line with Logical Framework of the project in the province and develop communication network with all stakeholder in provincial and national level, support nutrition related field project staff and CHWs in term of capacity building and ensure implementation of public nutrition strategies in light of BPHS/EPHS priority
Qualifications & Requirements:
Graduated from recognized university of Medical as (MD) or equivalent certified by relevant higher education authority in Afghanistan.
Have at least 2 years of working experience in BPHS/EPHS and familiarity with the nature of Sehatmandi project
Experience in supervision/training and training on nutrition SOP will be an advantage
He/she must be a good team player and be able to work in under pressure conditions/circumstances
He/she must have good communication skills
Able to travel to all districts of the province to supervise HFs, and community-based nutrition intervention
Main Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, supervise/monitor and report nutrition related activities in line with BPHS strategies and priorities
Develop communication network for nutrition activities in coordination with the PPHD Nutrition Officer in the provincial and national level with relevant stakeholders
Assist & support the formation of provincial nutrition steering committees & technical working groups on Nutrition and actively participate in nutrition related technical committee
Maintain Nutrition related database and support collection and provision of data for project periodic reporting system
Conduct need assessment and support nutrition related training event for HFs staff and CHWs
Ensure availability of nutrition related IEC material in HFs and HPs level
Ensure functionality of proper referral system within the network of all HFs and HPs
Through transfer of knowledge and skills, enhances the ability and capacity of health worker in Health facility to ensure smooth implementation of the designed Nutrition program based on MoPH approved strategies
Supervise nutrition service provision in HFs and HPs in the province
