At WFP, we are looking for a talented Logistics Officer (Fleet) for Elobied Area Office, Sudan to be hired on a Fixed Term Contract at NOA level.

WFP Sudan, one of the largest and complex operations for WFP globally, is currently rolling out its five-year Country Strategic Plan (2019-2023), which aims to provide emergency assistance through a hybrid approach (Cash, food and vouchers), along with life-changing types of programmes (Nutrition, Resilience and School Feeding).

JOB PURPOSE

To Manage, organize and provide Oversight of all Fleet Management activities within the Area Office/Hub and co-ordinate fleet Operations in accordance to the requirements of the Program and the Fleet Management Systems. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

As the logistics Officer (Fleet), you will be responsible for overall technical management and coordination functions of all repair and maintenance activities within the Area Office. You will coordinate Fleet operations in accordance to the procedures, normative guidelines and business rules as set by WFP. Specifically, you will perform the following duties:

  1. Preparation of Information for the formulization of Project Activity Work Plan to ensure a smooth and efficient Transport Operation: monitoring established tasks of the Project Activity Work Plan in accordance to projected schedules and goal sets.
  2. In conjunction with concerned parties (Admin), ensure that there is an adequate supply of Fuel in the Operational Area; including the monitoring of fuel consumption for each individual ruck within the parameters set.
  3. Responsible to organize and ensure all staff within Transport Section undertakes adequate training to ensure an efficient operation and achieve a high standard of work as required by the organization.
  4. Ensure that vehicles adequately tracked both for operational and security purposes by using of both HF radio and GPS Systems.
  5. Required to establish the necessary material/ human resources to match the overall operational requirements and monitor trends upwards or downwards and adjust resources to match these trends.
  6. Develop & Mange Best Practices and SOP-s for efficient Transport Management to maximize performance and monitor this performance through established Key Performance Indictors (KPIs)
  7. Ensure that all key staff in the Transport Section carry out their respective duties’ accordance to their Job Distribution within emphasis to performance criteria established.
  8. To Supervise Workshop operations to ensure repair and maintenance works are carried out according t FMS procedures and data entry done in a time manner.

9. Supervise the Spare parts stores to ensure the spare parts are ordered in timely manner, re-order levels observed and while accurately maintaining a just sufficient to as much as possible avoid storage of dead-stocks.

 

10. Ensure that Health and Safety requirements are met in full, together with considerations for environment needs.

 

11. Continuously collect and collect valuable data/information relating to improvements required for Standardization and Development purpose for Fleet Operations and will support management in decision making.

 

12. Share experience gained with other staff members and strives towards creating good team building and harmonious atmosphere.

 

13. Will travel occasionally, as required by the Organization and perform any other duties as requested by immediate Supervisor.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:

First University degree in transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics Engineering, Business Management or other related field.

 

Experience:

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience is required. For Advanced University Degree graduates, the minimum requirement of work experience in a related field is reduced to one year.

 

Language: 

Fluency in both English & Arabic language.

 

KOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Skills in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or another related field is desirable.
  • Good working knowledge with the complete Microsoft Office suite is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in using a computerized Fleet Management System is highly desirable.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
