SCA Background
The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:
The field Supervisor should keep the link and integrate the Counsellors with Project Management Staff in accordance to the project need and objective at health facility level and district level and to work with community influential in order to keep the link and integrate the Men engagement activities with maternal neonatal activities in accordance to the Project need at health facility, district level.
Beside; Plan, coordinate, supervise/monitor and report Men engagement related activities in line with Logical Framework of the project in the District and develop communication network for this purpose in coordination with Health Facility Directors.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Graduated from recognized University (Bachelor’s in Psycho social, Nurse or Midwife, )
2 years’ relevant experience in Field Supervision, Monitoring and with community, especially within an NGO, UN agencies or similar organization. Experience in training and supervision
Understanding of the community norms and able to work closely with community influential like CHS.
Knowledgeable in English and Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken
Interpersonal and communication skills
Supervisory, team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Experience of planning and reporting.
Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites and adjust to SCA environment.
Honest, proactive and well mannered.
Plan, coordinate, supervise/monitor and report Men engagement related activities in line with Logical Framework of the project in the District and develop communication network for this purpose in coordination with Health Facility Directors.
Preference is given to local resident of Behsood-2 district of Maidan Wardak province
Main Responsibilities:
To work with cooperative attitude to keep the link and integrate the Men engagement activities with maternal neo natal activities in accordance to the Project objective at health facility and district level.
Plan, coordinate, supervise/monitor and report Men engagement related activities in line with Logical Framework of the project in the district and develop communication network for this purpose in coordination with Health Facility Director and Health Shura and CHS.
Assist & support the formation of district level Local Government steering committees & technical working groups on Men engagement in Maternal neo natal health care.
Collect, compile & analyse project data to monitor progress on quarterly bases. Issue Men engagement and counselling in maternal health care and reports on monthly and quarterly basis.
Supervise, coordinate and support the District counsellors, CHW and community influential.
Supervise, coordinate and support the (District LGAs meeting) in the implementation of their responsibilities
Provide the IEC on men engagement and disseminate to the HFs and CHW.
Communication with CHS and CHWs for referring of Pregnant women and mothers with children under – 2 years to the HFs through CHWs debriefing days and supervisory visits.
Support and facilitation of baseline and other men engagement assessment Surveys as and when needed.
Ensure effective record keeping including but not limited to minute taking of program district meetings.
Provide and submit monthly and weekly work plans and activities reports on monthly (regular).
Act according to the policy and regulation of SCA and HFs Roles.
Keep updated with issues related to SCA and the environment where SCA operates.
Promote an attitude of team spirit and a strong focus on quality of men engagement in Maternal and neo natal health care.
Develop good co-operation with Health Facility staff and authorities.
Do related jobs as delegated by Project manager and Project officer.
Conduct on the job training during each supervision for men engagement activities, both in maternal and child health care under 2 Years.
Participate as facilitator in man engagement trainings with close coordination of project officer.
The field Supervisor should work with cooperative attitude to keep the link and integrate the Counsellors with Project Management Staff in accordance to the project need and objective at health facility level and district level.
