Job Description

The NY Resettlement Manager oversees the development, implementation, and completion of all grants, contracts and activities related to the following programs: resettlement services, particularly associated with the immediate needs of recently resettled refugees; intensive case management; asylum-seeking families; and services for unaccompanied children. Responsibilities include supervision of all resettlement casework staff to ensure compliance with program requirements.  This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Deputy Director.

Responsibilities:

Oversight of Programs:

  • Effectively manage the development, implementation, compliance, and completion of all service grants and contracts.

  • Oversee program budgets and manage expenses to ensure costs are maintained within allocated budgets.

  • Accountable for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of services and programmatic data to donors and all relevant parties.

  • Provide leadership to ensure that the resettlement team develops and maintains partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate closely with other program managers and IRC staff to ensure seamless delivery of services to clients utilizing a client-centered service model.

  • Report regularly to the Deputy Director on activities and results as well as areas of concern.

  • Participate as active member of the IRC in New York’s Senior Management Team and relevant internal and external groups. 

Leadership and Supervision of Resettlement Team:

  • Responsible for the recruitment, orientation, and supervision of Case Workers and all other resettlement staff.

  • Train and provide leadership to staff in all aspects of programs responsibilities.

  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance of internal program policies and procedures.

  • Serve as point person and resettlement team representative for collaboration and correspondence with stakeholders including partner agencies, service providers, and donors.

  • Represent the resettlement team within the IRC network in conferences, working groups and other contexts.

  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication and information sharing for monthly newsletters, program reports, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • University undergraduate degree required (four year, B.A./B.S.); an advanced degree in social work or other human services field is preferred

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in providing direct services to refugees is required; a minimum of one (1) year of supervising case workers in a refugee resettlement setting is preferred

  • Experience managing a team of direct service providers is preferred

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with MS Office applications, with strong command of Excel

  • Reliable, professional, resourceful, team-oriented and sensitive to cultural differences

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
