SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organization, we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. To support us with this important responsibility we are now looking for a committed:

Mission of the position: 

Build regional and national fundraising, institutional partnership development (IPD)/public funding (PF), communications and brand capacity across the region by providing strategic drive and guidance, targeted technical support and clear operating frameworks; facilitate the steady growth of local fundraising revenues in targeted national associations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of fundraising, IPD/PF, communications and brand strategies in the region. Support national associations in developing and evaluating fundraising, IPD/PF and communications strategies, plans and budgets
  • Lead and coordinate the development of regional fund development support plans and reports, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s global strategic plan and regional priorities
  • Ensure support to national associations in their global fundraising investment applications and implementation
  • Provide senior level consultancy to defined key countries of the region in the field of fundraising (private, corporate and institutional) and external communications
  • Steer knowledge sharing activities and capacity building across the region including collection and dissemination of good practices in fundraising, IPD/PF and communications and brand
  • Monitor fund development based on agreed international and regional key performance indicators (KPIs)

·       Monitor implementation of global policies and quality standards in national associations

  • Oversee and develop cross-border strategic corporate partnerships
  • Lead regional fundraising and communications team and ensure further professional development of the team members
  • Keep abreast of current fundraising trends, especially in the region
  • Be an active member of regional management, functional network and global strategic development teams

 

The Profile

  • A University Degree in Fundraising, Business Development/Marketing or related field preferred
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience with proven results in fund development. Experience in emerging markets would be an advantage
  • Senior leadership skills, and ability to lead strategy processes effectively
  • Proven successful experience in leading and managing teams including experience of working with virtual teams
  • Experience in negotiation, liaison, in relationship and conflict management
  • Strategic and comprehensive understanding of complete fundraising cycle: e.g. market research, strategy development; budgeting; donor relationship management and monitoring
  • Capacity to build and maintain relationships and to work effectively in a multicultural environment respecting diversity
  • Ability to lead and engage different stakeholders to develop vision and purpose, and to translate such vision into strategies and practical implementation
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, with excellent writing and speaking skills
  • Understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) approach/systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
