Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Partnerships and Donor Relations Officer the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Communications:
  • Overall support to the implementation of the Country Office (CO) communications strategy.
  • Ensure the production of communication products (media messages, holding lines, web contents, web stories for donors and WFP Insight, photos, press releases, speeches, etc.) is timely executed and published as planned to support the CO communications strategy, WFP regional and global campaigns and priorities and WFP resource mobilization strategy.
  • Support the CO programmes and activities by editing and creating communication and advocacy products for donors, partners, government counterparts, trainings as requested (guidelines, briefs, factsheets, presentations, folders, banners, etc.).
  • Review draft publications recommend revisions or changes in approaches, layout, scope and format to ensure high quality standards.
  • Maintain the CO profile at the WFP website, support the One UN Mozambique website (to be launched in 2020), and keep up to date WFP Mozambique social media account (Twitter) through commissioning and production of relevant material and posts.
  • Local and international media monitoring and production of media clippings to facilitate the exchange of information and data flow between functional area networks in WFP, to provide operational awareness and understanding of events that may have humanitarian and/or operational impact.

  1. Reporting:
  • Contribute to the development of systems and tools to support effective OIM, performance reporting and related normative guidance as required.
  • Support the corporate emergency and COVID-19 responses through regular operational reporting and information management to internal and external audiences.
  • Oversee the preparation of key corporate reports (Country brief, Executive brief, etc.).
  • Support for Operational Task Forces and update the emergency dashboards in coordination with the Regional Bureau and HQ, ensuring accuracy and informed dissemination of decision making to CO, RB and HQ.
  • Prepare Topic Briefs ahead of high-level meetings and provide updates to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Support the collation, drafting and dissemination of political and humanitarian analysis pertaining to WFP responses, donor policies, and trends.
  • Collaborate with counterparts in other UN agencies to ensure consistency in humanitarian information and to complement WFP analysis and information.

Support Donor Relations by contributing to donor reports and proposals as requested.

Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

Advanced University degree in English, Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management or Project Management, Social Sciences, Communications, Development, International Relations, Journalism, or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Required experience: 6 Months Experience remark:

Expereince in humanitarian/developmet field isf added value

Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Portuguese(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Area of expertise: Other communications related experience, Other development programme/project experience Area of expertise details:

Experience with UN Agencies is an asset
